Highlights

Athens - Delphi - Kalambaka

Temple of Apollo - Arrive at Delphi around noon. Known for its ancient ruins, including a theater and the Temple of Apollo, Delphi was once considered the center of the earth and universe, playing a pivotal role in classical Greek culture. Upon arrival, explore the mountainside archaeological site and see the Temple of Apollo, renowned for its oracle.

Delphi - One of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites.

Meteora - In the afternoon, after lunch (at your own expense), travel through central Greece and the city of Lamia. After a brief stop in Lamia, continue to the city of Trikala for a short break, then cross the Thessalian Plain to Kalambaka, a small town nestled at the base of the impressive grey rocks topped by the Meteora monasteries. After a brief stop for souvenir shopping, stay overnight in Kalambaka at a centrally located 3- or 4-star hotel of your choice.

Kalambaka - Meteora Monasteries - Athens

Meteora - Depart in the morning for a tour of the nearby Meteora monasteries. Visit two different Byzantine monasteries perched on rock tops, offering stunning views over the plain. Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built atop sandstone pillars, the monasteries provided monks with completely inaccessible retreats for centuries. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece, and its monasteries are among its most unique and striking attractions.

Leonidas Monument - On your return to Athens, enjoy an optional visit to a factory producing Byzantine-style icons, and stop for photos at the monument to the heroic Leonidas, King of Sparta, at Thermopylae. The tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

Fabulous package - Really comfortable and enjoyable two days. Knowledgeable guide. Would have liked a bit more time in Delphi but know that we covered 800km over the two days!

Terrific value! Loved Julie, our Delphi tour guide!! - This tour offers excellent value for the single traveler who is time restricted. I am very interested in greek mythology, history and nature do this tour ticks all the boxes. The Delphi tour guide not only studied archeology but was also entertaining, humorous and passionate. She brought this place to life for me! I highly recommend her. Our second tour guide (Anna Maria) expertly and patiently guided us through Meteroa, which managed to exceed my already high expectations. Despite the expected downsides of a tour this size (ie the lacklustre and overpriced “authentic greek” lunch stops, traveling in a pack and very short free time to explore on one’s own), I really enjoyed the trip and found it to be well organised and just jammed packed with interesting things to see and hear. The only thing I would change if I would do it again: ask about the different hotel options! On Viator I was only given the option between a 3- or 4-star hotel. I don’t really care about hotels that much because I tend to spend most of my time outside the room, exploring. However, in this case the 4-star hotel had a room with a gorgeous view of the Meteora cliffs. Had I known the room would have a view, I would have paid the extra amount. Also, just so you know (I didn’t see it described anywhere) you arrive back in Athens around 1830 depending on traffic.

Delphi and Meteora 2-day tour - We enjoyed 2 great days and were able to see and tour 2 of the greatest historical sites that most people only read about. The Delphi ruins were of course an amazing piece of history and thought to be the center of the world by the Greeks, but seeing and touring the Meteora Monasteries was a very moving experience that we will never forget. The guides were top notch in their knowledge of history, legends and religion, and we not only had a great time but learned a lot along the way. Although it was a long trip, the tour bus was very modern, the driver well equipped to deal with the dangerous narrow mountain roads, and frequent breaks were provided along the way to rest, eat, use the bathroom, etc. HOWEVER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW: There is a lot of walking, climbing stairs and navigating trails & narrow passageways which are often crowded with other visitors. Although none of them are long distance per se, they were a little too challenging for some seniors and others with limited mobility. It can also be very hot during the popular times of year so be prepared for that as well as bring some comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, and appropriate dress for the Monasteries.

Maybe a convert - Evan gave more informed descriptions of the sites than Angel, but both were friendly and entertaining guides! I expected the bus tour aspect to be a necessary evil to see these sights but might be a convert! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. May be partially biased because I booked the tourist class hotel but we were all upgraded to a different hotel based on availability. The upgrade hotel had a better view than the first class hotel the others had booked! And the food was fantastic.

Great trip, glad we did it!! - The hotel was nice. There is plenty of free time after Delphi. Was able to squeeze in the Delphi Museum, which was not on the schedule. Meteora Monasteries was a bit crowded during the guided tour, but there is enough free time afterward to explore on your own. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative!

Excellent experience - Glad we chose this 2 day trip. It was quite a drive and under the hot late summer sun, a day trip to Meteora would be too much to bear. Our guide was thorough with explanation and eventho it was a big group, we had no problem because the whisper worked well. Highly recommend this tour

Our family had a great time on the tour - My husband and I took the tour with our 2 teenage children. Our guide, Katarina, did a wonderful job telling us stories about the Greek Gods and how they relate to places along the drive to Delphi. The ruins and museum were interesting, especially for our child that loves Greek mythology. The rooms and the buffet meals we had at the Divina Meteora hotel were adequate. Our favorite part of the tour was seeing the different rock formations and the monasteries at Meteora. Seeing these sites were definitely worth the drive! George, our driver, did an amazing job navigating the bus through some very narrow roads. We'd definitely recommend this tour to others.

A long way but worth it - Delphi and meteora are both worth the trip. This is a long tour with more time spent in the bus getting there and back than visiting the sights. But the sites are worth the trip. Our guide and driver, the two Evans were both awesome. The food was not and let the trip down

Highly recommend - Great trip. Highly recommend the tour company and our guide, Anna, was very knowledgeable. The Delphi trip was crowded and we were short on exploration time but Meteroa was an amazing trip. Even the overnight hotels and buffets was awesome.
