Highlights
  • Acropolis - Meet your guide at the Acropolis metro station and start the tour with a visit to the Acropolis hill. On your way up, you will visit the Dionysus Theater, where all the famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. You will walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius. On the top of the hill you will visit the Propylea, the Temple of Nike, the Erechtheion Temple, and of course the Parthenon; the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to 5th century B.C, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles.
  • Acropolis Museum - Right after the Acropolis tour you will have the opportunity to visit the Acropolis Museum located just a few minutes walk from the Acropolis site. On the ground floor the exhibited artifacts reveal to you facets of the Athenian daily life; you get to know the wedding customs, the children’s favorite toys, the healing techniques, the religious practices. On the first floor, you will experience standing at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century B.C that once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated by walking next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance. At the last floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, one can admire the original unique in concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

Top of the World- Shock and Awe! - When I told a young Greek woman, that I was going to climb the Acropolis and go and view the Parthenon, She looked at me as if I was crazy. She asked the question. Why are you climbing to such a height on the hottest day during a heatwave in June? She suggested to leave it and come back in October or November when it is cooler and less crowded However, it was booked and I’m glad that I made an effort to climb to the top of this magnificent wonder of the world. Yes, You have to be careful climbing to the Summit if you have any lower limb limiting issues , You have to be very careful. It is steep and slippery due to the millennia of feet wearing away smooth marble.. you also have to carry water. Stop when it gets all too much. For me, I am glad I made it to the top. it remains one of the most mystical, historical and mythical places in the world- 2nd to none. I loved the stories told by our guide as we walked up.. it really brought history alive and well worth every penny. He could have slowed down a little! I am a little dehydrated, my knees ache and it took a day to get over the aches, But that makes me even more in awe of those who built it -

Excellent. Highlight of our trip to Athens. - Excellent tour of the Acropolis and the Museum. Very knowledgeable guide! We did the tour in June so it was hot but we had the 8am tour which in my view was essential. 3.5 hours is a long time walking and standing but well worth the time and the cost.

A Monumental Experience! - A not-to-be missed part of a trip to Greece is a tour of the Acropolis and its museum with an experienced and knowledgeable guide. Our guide, Jiota, was not only a guide but an archaeologist who made the time at this historic place interesting and memorable.

Amazing Experience! Totally worth it. - Our tour Guide, who's name unfortunately escapes me, was great! He was funny, charismatic, and very knowledgeable. You could tell he really cared about his job and even more so his country's rich history. In my opinion, a guided tour for something so massive and full of history is the best way to go. With each stop we learned more and more about the true scale and history of what "little" (compared to when originally built) remains we were seeing and it really helped bring it all together as we made the climb. The Parthenon was absolutely stunning. I would recommend this experience to anybody with no second thoughts. Lastly, I will say the museum is not a necessary addition to your tour but a great way to end your tour and see even more of the remnants of Parthenon being preserved. Spend the extra money, you will not regret it.

Thorough but long - This tour was very thorough. Tour guide was very knowledgeable, spoke clearly and made sure her group stayed together; She was able to answer all of the questions from the group and gave clear directions on where to walk, conditions of the paths and kept us in the shade as often as possible. The only negative is this tour is bit too long. There should be an option to go your own way once you have entered the Museum. The tour started at 8:00 AM (with 7:30 AM arrival) and ended at 1:30 PM or so….so if you can’t stand / walk for 5 + solid hours without sitting down, this is not the tour for you.

Great way to experience the Acropolis - Our guide Nick was very knowledgeable. He did a very good job of giving us the necessary background to understand the acropolis and it’s temples. He also did a good job of leaving some time for bathrooms and a short break during this tour. He warned the group in areas where the steps were slippery.
