Highlights
  • Acropolis - Visiting the Acropolis is a must and the highlight of any trip to Athens. Capture the essence of this iconic monument with your camera! We’ll also explore street photography, leveraging the bustling tourism and the diverse crowd for unique photo opportunities and intriguing contrasts. Enjoy panoramic views of Athens and impressive urban landscapes as your backdrop.
  • Plaka - Wander through the charming streets of Plaka at the base of the Acropolis, discovering old Athens and the island-like area of Anafiotika. Bathed in the warm Athenian sun almost year-round, our photo walk will take you to the most picturesque spots, offering fantastic photographic moments.
  • Monastiraki Square - Monastiraki is a lively neighborhood, always buzzing with activity. Known for its flea market and as a major shopping district, it has a cool vibe, a popular metro station, and a large square where young people gather, providing a variety of photo opportunities to capture Athenian life. Ancient ruins, bustling shopping streets, busy pedestrians, street vendors, and vibrant graffiti create a dynamic setting for candid street photography. (Suggested stop for souvlaki and refreshments.)
  • Varvakios Central Municipal Market - This vibrant, chaotic market in Athens is a photographer’s dream. It retains the edgy vibe of Athens, setting it apart from other European markets. Though not the prettiest, it is full of character. Athenians from all walks of life come here to buy everything from olives and cheese to seafood and spices. The meat market section, with its hanging carcasses under bright orange lights, offers a surreal atmosphere. Some butchers have been here for generations, calling out prices in loud voices. The Central Food Market provides authentic “life as it is” photos! (Snacks available along the way.)
  • Panathenaic Stadium - The Panathenaic, or “Panathinaiko,” is the historic stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. It has existed in various forms since ancient times and was later reconstructed with famous Pentelic marble, earning the nickname “Kallimarmaron,” meaning “beautifully marbled.” It was also used during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and serves as the finish line for the classical marathon.
  • Lycabettus Hill - To conclude our photo walk, a taxi will take us to Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in the city, offering 360° panoramic views of Athens. Capture stunning photos under the enchanting Athenian sunset.

Superb photo guide - I had a superb tour with the very knowledgable Vasilis. His chat, sense of humour, knowledge of the city, and professional enthusiasm for photography (and showing off the best of his city) are second to none. He immediately put me at my ease and once l began to show him some of my photos he was full of ideas and subtle coaching suggestions of better places to stand, or angles to use, or how to pick just the right moment to take my next photo. Athens is one of those places that seems to be on every traveller's wish list - it makes sense to spend that ambition wisely by being with a guide as pleasant and expert as Vasilis. I think I will return to the Athens area just for another photo walk (maybe the riviera?) - I enjoyed it that much.
