So much delicious food! - Antonia was a wonderful tour guide who showed us neighborhoods and cafes we would have missed on our own. She not only led us on a Greek feast through the streets of Athens, but she also gave us historical and cultural highlights that added to our experience. Do not eat anything before this tour! There is so much food. From the fried cheese in phyllo to the Greek doughnuts drizzled with honey and the savory gyros, you will be glad you have to walk between stops. We ended our evening with a large assortment of traditional dishes at a cafe in the historic Plaka district. What a delicious way to experience Athens!

Delicious food - outstanding places - emphatic tour guide - We got to know authentic bakeries, restaurants and markets and learned a lot about the history and preparation of original Greek food. During the personal conversations we heard many facts about Athens and life in the city.

Tasty & Entertaining - We had a large group (7 of us) and Bianca really took us on a great walking and tasting tour of some of the best spots in Monastiraki. Keeping five kids entertained for four hours is no small accomplishment. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to get a feel for the city's restaurant scene.

This Food Tour ranks at the top of those that I have experienced around the world. - What I like about food tours in general is the ability to receive a great deal of historical insight into a city while experiencing the culture through the foods sampled. This food tour delivers all of those elements within a several block radius. We started off at the Monastiraki Metro Station in Athens and walked several blocks over four hours sampling various Greek delights. Elements that I really appreciated were that the food stops which were unique, local restaurants, many family-owned and several with more than 100 years in business. All of the food samplings were uniquely Greek foods which allowed sampling of flavors that were fantastic and spices which were unique. Our food tour host turned out to be Dimitrious who is one of the “Be a Greek” company owners and who is from the area. Thus he provides a high degree of credible knowledge from the perspective of a local rather than the other types of guides that I have experienced who are imported contract labor who regurgitate a rehearsed script. He is friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated the depth of Greek knowledge which he provided and the passion with which he imparted his knowledge of food and history. He is very interested in the experience of each guest. We sampled several shops with small offerings of food and liquor before ending the tour in a restaurant for dinner. We had the evening tour which began at 5 pm and ended a 9 pm. One gets a lot of food on this tour. We left absolutely stuffed. So make sure you come with an appetite. I have been on several food tours in cities across the world (Barcelona, Paris, New York, Bangkok and Amsterdam to name few). This food tour by “Be a Greek” ranks right up at the top. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Dimitrious!
