Highlights
  • Corinth Canal - Embark on our air-conditioned modern bus from four central meeting points and journey to the Peloponnese region.

Just an hour’s drive from Athens, in the Peloponnese, you’ll discover the renowned Corinth Canal. This canal links the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It traverses the narrow Isthmus of Corinth, separating the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, effectively turning the former peninsula into an island.
The canal elevated Piraeus’ status as a major Mediterranean port. A project spanning many centuries, it was initially conceived by a ruler of Ancient Corinth, started by Roman emperor Nero, and completed in the 19th century by the French. Carved through solid rock, the canal stretches over 6km in length and 23m in width, with vertical sides rising 90m above the water.

We will stop at the Canal for 45 minutes. Near the canal, there are options for refreshments, snacks, and public toilets.

  • Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - Next, we head to Ancient Corinth, a significant city in ancient and Roman times. (30-minute ride). Known for its wealth and architecture, Corinth was the site of Greece’s final stand against Rome. After their defeat, the Romans leveled the city and rebuilt it as a Roman settlement with theaters, a forum, and imperial temples. Only the ancient Temple of Apollo was spared.

Corinth was home to the legendary Jason of the Argonauts, the thief of the Golden Fleece, Pausanias, a Roman traveler, and St. Paul, who preached the gospel of Christ here. Follow in their footsteps and relive the past with our Virtual Reality application, which you can use at the Archaeological Site while listening to the captivating history with our Audioguide. The site’s museum is also a must-visit.

We will stay in Ancient Corinth for 3 hours. There is also a nearby village for a quick lunch or snacks.

Admission during the high season is 8 euros. During the low season, it is 4 euros.

  • Ancient Port of Kenchreai - On our way back to Athens, we will drive along the beautiful coastal road and stop for photos at the ancient port of Kenchreai.
In ancient times, Kenchreai was one of the two ports of the inland city-state of Corinth. While Kenchreai served the eastern trade routes via the Saronic Gulf, Lechaion on the Corinthian Gulf served the trade routes leading west to Italy and the rest of Europe. (30-minute drive).

We will stop for 10 minutes for photos.

Then we head back to Athens to disembark comfortably at any of our four drop-off points. (1-hour drive).

Recimmended - It completely met our expectations. We enjoyed The Corinth Channel view and Ancient Corinth ruins. We particularly liked the stop in the ancient port by the sea. The ride in mini van was enjoyable. The tour leader Maria was very kind and helpful.

Fun, informative 1/2 day adventure - We really enjoyed our tour guide, Akis, who drove the bus safely and gave our small group a little extra time at the castle and the ancient seaport stops. He was informative, friendly, and answered all our questions about all things Greek-history, churches, agriculture, industry, and food. We would highly recommend Akis.

Great tour, picturesque sights - Great tour! The history of Ancient Corinth and Kechries port is definitely interesting and all the sights are picturesque. Travel in a small group with a friendly guide (many thanks to Maria) is probably the best option. The tour took about 7 hrs from 9 to 16 approx so after it you are not too tired and have some free evening time.

Phenomenonal value for money! - Totally blew us away and SO much value for money! The small bus was comfortable and well air-conditioned, with good duration of stops with enough time to peruse and paddle and eat. We caught caught by surprise a little when we had to pay €8 to enter an ancient ruins sight, also the guide did not have a wealth of knowledge but she could not have been friendlier and more helpful (Maria). Overall, we couldn't believe how much the trip packed in, considering it - by far - the cheapest one available. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Well worth the trip. - Good journey experience with a good vehicle. Timing is good. Maria has good intention of explaining things. Soft voice. Might be useful to have a small microphone and speaker.
