- Temple of Olympian Zeus - Dedicated to Zeus head of the Olympian Gods, this colossal Temple pre-dates the Acropolis and is the largest ever constructed and home to one of the wonders of the ancient world; a gigantic statue of Zeus seated on a throne over 12 meters tall and encrusted with gold, ivory & Jewels. At the golden sandals of the god sat an olive oil reservoir that reflected on the statue making it appear that the god would rise up and lift of the temple roof. One can only imagine the impact it had on the visitors of the day over 2500 years before!
The starting point for the tour is located opposite the temple so you will start with the stories & myths surrounding Zeus and his influence on the citizens of Athens.
- Acropolis - Holiest site of Ancient Greece and crowned by the pinnacle of Classical Greece, the Parthenon which was richly decorated with the struggles of the gods, and the focus of the largest Athenian celebrations to the Goddess Athena. A short distance away lies the Erechtheion Temple, dedicated to both the God Poseidon and Goddess Athena who battled for the patronage of Athens.

Ancient Agora of Athens - EXTENDED 3hr TOUR ONLY.
Our extended tour option includes site of the Ancient Agora. The epicenter of Ancient Greek life in the city. This is where the Athenians came to meet, trade and discuss the politics of the day, where Philosophers such as Plato spoke, where democracy itself was founded by the citizens and where many of the most important temples and dedications to the gods were made.

- PLAKA & FOOD OPTION (3hr) with a combination of visits to the Acropolis and Plaka neighbourhood including food tastings
- EXTENDED OPTION (3hr) Choosing this option extends the route from the Acropolis to include the Ancient Agora

If you have reduced mobility or can only walk for short distances, we request that you let us know after booking since there are various measures we can put in place to reduce the time you spend on your feet.
- WHEELCHAIR USERS. For wheelchair users it is necessary to have an able-bodied person accompanying. Please let us know after booking as there are various measures we can take to make the tour most easy. It is also possible to extend your tour time on request.

Athens is Special - To Get a Real Feel of the History, This Private Tour is a Must - While Athens and the rest of my trip in Greece were great, a start with this private tour was really perfect. The guide, Elena, was exceptional. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and impassioned. Kept us moving along (I opted for the extended tour - this is a must), stopping for my questions and photos. While you are touring, you see the larger groups and realize that springing for a private tour really is well worth it. I would not hesitate to do it again and will look for Warm Penguin tours wherever I travel.

Good, but not great - Worth it to skip the line, but too much fluff on the tour and not enough about the actual Parthenon. The guide went on and on about how the Greeks are “blessed and the best” but didn’t provide much information on the history of the Acropolis.
