The gorge is filled with beautiful rock formations and vegetation. The gorge is a narrow passage between the vertical slopes of the Iti and Kallidromos mountains. Water from the canyon provides irrigation for areas of special ecological value. The canyon was already known in antiquity. Near the entrance to the canyon, on the slopes of the Iti and Kallidromos mountains, on the southeastern side of the Sperchios valley, there was ancient Iraklia (Trachina), which was one of the five cities in the kingdom of Achilles. After completing the trek, the group will go to Thermopylae, the place where the famous battle took place in 480 BC. and which became the inspiration for the world-famous movie 300. Thermopylae is also famous for its thermal springs. Then the group will go to the Kamena Vourla resort, where you can relax on the “Sissy” beach in the shade of palm trees or use the Water Sports Center and electric bike rental (options paid additionally).
