Highlights
  • Ateshgah - Fire Temple - After gathering the guests from the hotel or designated meeting point, our first stop is the ancient Zoroastrian Ateshgah Temple, once a sacred site for fire-worshippers. This pentagonal complex features a courtyard encircled by cells for monks and a central tetrapillar-altar. It was abandoned in the late 19th century, likely due to the decline of the Indian population in the area. The Temple of Fire “Ateshgah” was nominated for the List of World Heritage Sites on December 19, 2007, and was declared a state historical-architectural reserve.

The distance from the city center to the Fire Temple is a 30-minute drive. We will spend 1 hour here before heading to Fire Mountain.

  • Yanardag State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve - Conclude the day with a visit to Yanardag, a natural gas fire that perpetually burns on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula. The Yanar Dag flame burns consistently due to a steady seep of gas from underground. Unlike the nearby mud volcanoes of Lokbatan or Gobustan, there is no mud or liquid flow here.

The drive from the Fire Temple to Fire Mountain takes about 50 minutes. Guests will spend 30-60 minutes here, exploring the area and listening to explanations. The planned tour program concludes here, and we will return to the initial meeting point or hotel in the city center. The total tour duration is 3 to 4 hours.
