Baku - Sheki 4 regions tour - great experience - Hello! No problem. Sorry for the delay in response. Everything was great! The guide, Inara, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Although the group was mostly Russian and I was the only one speaking English she made sure to translate the things I did not understand from Russian. Some tips: If you are going in the summer, bring lots of water with you and bring comfortable shoes. What to expect: some bumpy roads, a long drive, amazing views, lovely people. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I am so glad to have been on it. 10/10 🤗👌

Pleasantly surprised! - This was a really nice tour. Visiting Sheki was my favorite part. It is a long day of driving and the stops are fairly short given the distance between them. our guide Inara is so cute and bubbly and full of information; I think she made the tour worth it. The driver was safe and drove well. I was impressed by Inara’s English, especially after learning she is self taught. There were only two of us on the tour, a lovely solo Russian woman and myself, a solo American woman and Inara was so seamless transitioning between the two languages and engaging us in conversation with one another as she translated. Keep in mind that most of the tour is driving - I slept for all the driving so this was a non issue for me. You must pay for your own lunch, the prices are reasonable, meat portions are small, rice/bread is plentiful. Be sure to check your email and/or TripAdvisor messages after booking as the pickup time listed online may be earlier or later, depending on the location of your hotel. I recommend this tour if you’d like something different and long distances in a van are not a bother for you.

Lovely scenery, but too much time in the car - Said was a very good guide, chatting with all of us and giving us a good history of the places we were going. However it’s a lot of travelling and sitting in a car and not enough of spending time seeing the places. I had kept my expectations low as I had read that it makes more sense to spend overnight in Sheki which perhaps is the right thing to do if your schedule permits. Else the ride was comfortable and the tour itself was conducted as per the schedule

Underwhelming - This long day trip was great value for money and I’m glad I went. The guides were excellent with plenty of interesting info. The 18 century Khans Palace Sheki itself was underwhelming. Just 4 rooms with wall paintings that weren’t very special. The windows with Venice glass were pretty but again 100s of examples in Europe that surpassed this. The rude staff didn’t help, and why no pictures?? The qabala & hanging bridge stops were effectively to break up the journey. Lunch was by a picturesque lake but service was grim & dismissive, similar to the rest of our experiences in Azerbaijan. The transport was satisfactory and the driver - excellent.

There is no reason to smile when you take a tour with Smile Azerbaijan Tour - On July 23rd, 2024 we had an unpleasant experience of taking the one-day tour with Smile Azerbaijan Tour to Sheki. The organization of the trip was bad. The car was old and from very beginning there were problems with it (e.g. the engine was very loud, the air conditioning switched off when the car went uphill), finally the engine was broken and got overhead, so we drove to Baku with 50 km/h speed, stopping every half an hour to cool the engine, so we arrived at 3,5 h late (2:30 a.m.). As the group was mixed English and Russian speaking we had two guides, which was completely unnecessary, as only one of them (Adil) did almost all the job, as he spoke both English and Russian. The other one (Bakhtiar, I think) was lazy and he did not show much interest with the trip (except for a short introduction at the beginning). The pieces of information provided by the guides were poor, you could learn more from Wikipedia! It was the only organised trip, when the group needed to wait for the guides and driver (e.g. because the guide needed to finish his breakfast on the first stop, or his snack during the stop at the hanging bridge, or there was a stop for tea for the driver 30 minutes from Sheki, as if the driver could not have a tea when the group was sightseeing). At the Nohur Lake, we we were introduced to the restaurant with prices 2-3 times higher than in Baku (e.g. 50-60 AZN for a main dish for one person, 20 AZN for a starter), in spite there were much more affordable restaurants around. The driver and the guides enjoyed their lunch for 1,5h while the group again waited for them. We felt that this trip was generally an excursion for a driver and the guides and the group was unpleasant obligation for them. ***Azerbaijan is a beautiful country with astonishing places. It is worth to visit this country, but NOT with Smile Azerbaijan Tour.
