One of the most valued and highly rated experiences on AirBnB has now made its way to Viator. When visitors come to Barcelona, they crave Mediterranean cuisine, and nothing embodies Spanish Mediterranean more than Paella. This dish has achieved iconic status after years of bringing families and friends together around the table. Unfortunately, tourists often miss out on authentic Paella, getting lured into places where overcooked yellow rice with various odd additions is served instead.
Our local chef and his team gained popularity among locals while leading the kitchen at the ideally situated Kaiku restaurant in the fishermen’s neighborhood of La Barceloneta, overlooking the sea. It was here that they introduced his unique method for infusing rice with an irresistible smoky aroma, known as The Vulcano. This involves a custom-made aluminum “hat” that covers the paella for a few minutes while rosemary twigs are torched.
