Additional Information

One of Airbnb’s highly appreciated and top-rated experiences has now made its way to Viator. Travelers, upon their visit to Barcelona, are invariably drawn to the flavors of the Mediterranean. The Spanish specialty Paella epitomizes this culinary culture more than anything else. Renowned for uniting families and friends over shared meals, true Paellas are unfortunately rarely experienced by tourists who often fall prey to tourist traps serving overcooked and poorly presented versions of the traditional dish.
Our local celebrity chef and his team made a name for themselves among native food lovers while heading the kitchen at Kaiku restaurant, remarkably positioned in the fisherman’s neighbourhood of La Barceloneta, opposite the sea. Here, they unveiled a unique technique to impart a fabulous smoky aroma to their rice dishes - The Vulcano. It involves the usage of a distinctive custom-made, aluminium hat-like cover that shrouds the Paella for a brief period while being infused with the fragrance of ignited rosemary twigs.

Incredible paella class!! - What an amazing experience!!!! Everything was so well planned and easy to navigate. Martinho and Alberto were great hosts and made the experience extremely fun despite a significant amount of rain. The food was delicious, the space was unique, and the experience was one my husband and I won’t forget. We’re excited to try our hand at making paella once we return from our trip. I cannot recommend this experience enough!!!

A fun and delicious experience in Barcelona! - The three of us had a great time learning the secrets of making perfect paella, while enjoying cava and sangria which we also helped to make. Chef Martinho was very engaging, and answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. The kitchen and workspace were large, and the rooftop was a lovely place to enjoy the delicious meal. He emailed us the recipe afterwards, so we can now make it at home. Highly recommended!

AMAZING!!! - My friends and I had the best time at this paella class!!! Martino was an excellent teacher and so kind and fun. One of my friends even had an allergy to the shrimp and he made her a whole extra dish just for her. We learned so much and met so many cool people in the process. The rooftop views were stunning, if you’re in Barcelona and looking for a class to take, I strongly recommend this one!

Fun Delicious Instructive - Martino was a wonderful host and instructor. It felt like being in his home. We were a couple joined by another couple from France, four in total. Great cooking instructions and a delicious meal afterwards. Would highly recommend. Location information was a little tricky and not obvious as it’s in a warehouse location for arts etc so allow a few extra minutes to find it.

Worth every penny! - What an amazing experience we had during our paella cooking class. Our hosts were fabulous! They were also extremely generous. We started with learning how to prepare bread by rubbing it with garlic and tomato and a sprinkle of olive oil We learned the secret of making sangria. The last part ofcourse was the absolutely delicious paella. I highly recommend this tour.

Very enjoyable experience & great food - We were a group of 8 friends, we were a bit late but Martino made it work anyways! We learned some useful things about how to prep a tasty Sangria, prepared fruitsfor Sangria and seafood for Paella. We enjoyed the beautiful weather on the rooftop, chatting and drinking Sangria and listening to some useful knowledge about cooking. The Paella was delicious and the desert was a nice cherry on top. Martino is a great host, friendly, funny, pleasant. If you want a deep and detailed "learn by doing" cooking class, I'd recommend a different one. If you want a pleasent and knowledgeble time ended with delicious food, this cooking experience is for you!
