Highlights
  • Girona Cathedral - During the Muslim period, 715-785, the building worked as a mosque. This Gothic church has the second biggest nave in the world, with 22.98m width, only after Saint Peter Basilica in the Vatican, with 25m width. The Cathedral is located in the middle of the old city and in the highest part.
  • Esglesia de Sant Feliu - This was the main temple of the city until the construction of the Cathedral. The church is dedicated to Sant Feliu, a martyr who died during the Christian persecution promoted by the roman emperor Diocletian. Inside the church there is the tomb of saint Narcissus.
  • Sant Pere de Galligants - Built in Romanesque style actually has the archaeological museum of Girona.
  • Girona Jewish Art - Both Jewish quarters from Girona and Besalú are the best preserved in Europe.
  • Banys Àrabs - This structure is known under the name of Arabic bath because its architecture has the clear influence from the Muslim architecture.
  • Muralles de Girona - From the French gardens we can start the way through the ancient city walls. From there we have great panoramic views of the old city.
  • Dali Theatre-Museum - It holds the biggest collection of artwork that represent the artistic evolution of Salvador Dalí, from his origins to his latest works that are considered the top of the Spanish surrealism.

After a small introduction about the history of the museum and Dali’s live and career, you will be given plenty of free time to explore the museum and also Figueres by yourself. At the fixed time we will take the bus back to the centre of Barcelona.

Sylvia and Abel are great ! - Great plan for a day...get out of Barcelona ! We did Girona followed by Figueres with Sylvia and Abel. Sylvia taught me so much about what we saw during the trip. And Abel took us through a route to pass by some important landmarks. There is a lot to see in Barcelona and Figueres. Maybe they can be separate day trips ?

Very worthwhile - The Salvador Dali Museum was a particular highlight. Girona was a real treat in imagining how ancient life must have been. The connection with the ‘Game of Thrones’ was definitely added bonus!

Nice excursion although brief information - Overall- convenient tour given transportation to both sites. I wish our guide was more informative in regards to the town of Girona. It would have been nice to be informed more about why it’s special, cycling town, the current climate with their soccer success. Also- it would have been nice to get a little more information on the Dali museum and highlights of what we were going to experience inside. I felt like our guide gave minimal info to the group. I do recommend visiting both places though.

Rainy weather and no umbrellas. - The tour for Girona was on a festival day and very crowded so we arrived very late. It Raines on us the whole time with no protection. The tor company could have warned us about the crowds and provided rain gear. Quite a miserable experience. The bus windows was so fooged tha the driver couldn't even see where he was going and sometimes either went the wrong side of the street. Drive to Dali Museum was short but also fogged windows and scary. Ran into traffic so we arrived late and only had a hour to tour. When we arrived back at the meeting point two people were late and the bus left them behind with their gear still on the bus. The guide was very unconcerned for them. Horrible experince!!
