Amazing tour to Saona Island - We used So Fun DR Tours to visit Saona Island and I want to thank Max for helping us to organize and coordinate this wonderful trip. We were a group of 51 people and reserved the Catamaran "Capitan Gringo" for a private tour to Saona Island on June 28, 2023 from Punta Cana. Max coordinated the transfer from Hard Rock Punta Cana to Bayahibe (round trip) in a very comfortable bus, our lunch in a VIP section/restaurant in Saona, and the photographers for the trip. I defenetntly recommend So Fun D.R. Tours

Smelly restrooms - The island when you arrived should have pathways clears to avoid stepping on horse manure. The old palm tree that has been cut off, should be remove of tourists view. The Rest rooms in the catamaran were filty.

All lies, do not book! - To begin with the trip was advertised as... 1. Maximum 30 per group. = Lie, there was 60 2. A speed boat at the start, taking us to the natural pool where we will see starfish. 3. A speedboat to take us to Saona where we will spend 2 to 3 hours. 4. Drinks to be provided throughout the day and food at Saona. 5. A partyboat to take us home.  None of this is true! And the trip should have been canceled because of the weather. Lots of us complained to the tour guide throughout about all of the shortcomings and we were just told "not my problem, nothing I can do" Everyone was miserable the entire journey back to Bayahibe. With regards to the weather, the tour operator messaged me saying "It reanning I don't know if he goonIf" and I replied saying "Please let me know if we are going" he then replied saying "okay excellent, 8:30 at the lobby" I took this as confirmation that the weather would be good. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning. We spent 1 hour and 40 minutes being transported to Bayahibe, we then spent 1 hour in direct sun with no shade and no refreshments provided. We had to pay to use the bathroom during this time. Then the trip began. I will tell you here that on catamarans my wife can suffer from sea sickness, we did not have any concerns when we booked the trip because we were supposed to travel the first part of the trip by speedboat, so she would still be able to enjoy the day. We actually left the port on a catamaran, the opposite of what is supposed to happen. There were a few songs played, but most of the journey consisted of listening to children crying from how rough the journey was, within 25 minutes we went straight iny to a storm where we were hammered by torrential rain. The boat we were on actually had 60 people that we counted plus the crew and that is not the 30 advertised. This rain continued most of the way to Saonoa, because of the storm and the fact we rode on a catamaran my wife became very sick from the rough sea. This storm continued for most of the journey to Saonoa. There was not enough shelter on the boat so we were freezing cold and soaking wet. Even personal belongings stored underneath the chair are ruined, including my personal mobile phone which was in my bag and has suffered water damage. When we arrived at Saona we were told that we would be leaving at 14:45, this meant we would have only 1 hour and 25 minutes at the island, not the 2 to 3 hours advertised. We complained to the tour guide and he said it is not his problem and we need to request a refund afterwards because he cannot help. On the island there was a huge queue serving food, and a stand serving Pina coladas for. We waited for the food queue to get near the end and then joined it to get some food, they immediately told us they had run out and there was not anything left. We then went to get a drink and they told us we had to pay $10. We did not have any cash with us and they did not have any other drinks available.  Meanwhile the staff that had been serving food sat at the back with huge plates of food. My wife needed to use the toilet and the woman at the door insisted she tipped before she was able to wash her hands. We then boarded a speed boat to return to Bayahibe and went through the storm again, we stopped at the natural pool to see the starfish and did not even see one. We returned to the speed boat after only 20 minutes and headed back to Bayahibe. Again, through stormy weather. We were not even offered a drink of water. When we arrived at Bayahibe we were soaking wet, freezing cold, starving and dehydrated. We then got back on to the private transfers where the driver insisted on using air conditioning the entire way home, leaving us completely frozen and now feeling like we have a fever or hypothermia. Since requesting a refund, Viator have given me the worst customer service experience and I have received messags from the tour operator insulting me and telling me I should have common sense. This was supposed to be a nice trip for our honeymoon but Instead it ruined an entire day. We still feel ill 2 days later.
