- Mutianyu Great Wall - Your tour begins with pickup from your Beijing hotel .\nTraveling by private vehicle, set out on the around 1.5-hour journey to the Mutianyu Great Wall, as your guide offers some background information about the famous wall \- a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.\nOn arrival at Mutianyu, you will have around 2 hours to explore and can choose to ride the chairlift to Tower 6, returning by toboggan, or take the cable car to Tower 14 (recommended for those nervous of heights).\n\n- Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - After visiting the Great Wall, stop to enjoy lunch (Cost on your side) at a local restaurant and sample some typical Chinese cuisine, then return to Beijing to visit the Summer Palace.\nSpend the rest of the afternoon at the Summer Palace, where highlights include the Long Corridor, Seventeen Arches Bridge, Qingyan Stone Boat, Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill. Explore the magnificent 18th-century Imperial gardens both with and without your guide, pausing to admire the palatial buildings and pavilions and pose for photos beside the pretty lakes and bridges.\n\nYour tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 5pm (depending on pickup time).

Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace - Mutianyu Great Wall is less crowded. You will save sometime is you take the cable car to the top of the Wall. Beautiful view as compare to Badaling.
Would strongly recommend to visit the Summer Palace during sunset.

Fantastic experience at the Great Wall - Highly recommend - having spent a fantastic day with Helena on Tuesday at the Forbidden City (see review from Sue N) , we contacted Emily again to see if there was last minute availability for a private tour to the Great Wall. Again, Emily was very responsive and was able to meet our special request for a day trip on Thursday and of course we asked for Helena!
We were leaving Beijing on a late train on Thursday and really appreciated the flexibility to spend slightly longer at the Great Wall (so that we could hike up to the highest point), skip lunch and reduce the amount of time at the Summer Palace.
Again, Helena was very knowledgeable and even taught us some key Chinese words (beer...) and pronounciation during the car journey as well as responding positively to my dad’s jokes...
We took the cable car up to the wall and the toboggan back down - well worth doing!
