- Mutianyu Great Wall - Arrange to meet your driver at 6:30 am in the lobby of your hotel.\nThe journey from the center of Beijing to the Mutianyu Wall parking area takes approximately 90 minutes and covers a distance of 75 kilometers.\n\nThe Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is perched on a mountain ridge at an elevation ranging from 600 to 1,000 meters. Constructed primarily from granite blocks, the wall stands between 23 to 26 feet high (7 to 8 meters) and spans a width of 4 to 5 yards (4 to 5 meters). Erected in 1404, it was originally intended to protect against invasions from the Mongol armies to the south, but today it serves a different purpose, drawing more international visitors than it repels. Your English-speaking guide will share amusing anecdotes and historical facts about the Great Wall during your visit.\n\nA five-minute chairlift ride from the base of the mountain takes you to the 6th Watch Tower on the Great Wall. From this vantage point, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding villages to the south and, on clear days, catch a glimpse of Beijing’s tallest skyscraper, the Chinese Zun, in the distance. To the north, the Great Wall is flanked by seemingly endless mountain ranges. The distance between each Watch Tower along the Wall is approximately 300-500 meters. From atop a Watch Tower, the entire span of the Great Wall is visible.\n\nThe Wall’s flat section, stretching from the 6th to the 9th Watch Tower, is easily navigable for the elderly and children, while the steep section leading from the 6th Watch Tower to the 1st is more challenging. Adventurous hikers may opt to trek to the 19th Watch Tower, a two-hour journey, if they feel up to the task.\nAfter spending sufficient time exploring and capturing memorable photographs, you’ll descend from the 6th Watch Tower via an exhilarating toboggan ride.\n\nDining options near the Wall include various Chinese eateries and a Subway restaurant. Alternatively, you may choose to pack your own snacks and fruit for lunch. Your guide will supply complimentary bottled water.\nYou will return to your hotel in Beijing city around 12 pm.

Great service and very friendly - Our driver was very friendly and had arranged everything fot us. He drove us to The Great Wall in his very comfortable car and waited for us while we visited the Great Wall. I recommend his services without any hesitation.

Amazing Morning…recommend to everyone! 5 star! - Under Mark’s excellent guidance we had the great privilege of being the first two people to step on the Great Wall on the 14th March 2024. The chair lift was turned on when we arrived and off up we went with Mark following to share his expert knowledge and help take some photos. Mark’s excellent guidance was 5 star. Mark had arranged our tickets for the chair lift and toboggan down so it was a seamless entry, after Mark’s guidance he left us to explore the wall and various watch towers. Once we tobogganed down, Mark was there ready to bring us safely back to our hotel with some refreshments in the car. A real perk for us with Mark’s tour was he maximised our time on the wall and did not bring us to any retail outlets which other tours do. It was amazing the amount of time we had on the wall before other people arrived and this was all down to Mark’s excellent planning! Thank you Mark!

Wonderful guide - We were 9 people on a private tour. The tour operator, Mark was very helpful, efficient and nice. He had arranged a private mini van for us with a guide. We had a wonderful tour. May the tour guide was amazing: very knowledgeable, extremely nice and had perfect English. She was happy to discuss with us life in China. The tour was very flexible and we could decide how long to stay on the wall, what and when to eat and so on.

Day Trip to the Great Wall - Mr. Wu (Wu, as he liked to be called) was excellent! He texted me the day before to confirm our pick up at our hotel. He was on time and his English was good. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a picture book about the Wall to read & look at during our drive to it. He was most helpful getting our tickets and getting us into the right line to enter the wall and get on the chair lift. We paid extra for the chair lift, it was worth it. He accompanied us up the lift and and to wall. He then took several pictures of us with our Santa Claus Hats on (for our Christmas Cards), and a few Chinese as well. He waited for us when we finished at the bottom. He helped with the lunch, we skipped the dumplings and he got us some other Chinese food instead. On our return trip, with his suggestions, he stopped a couple of times to take some scenic pictures. We had lots of questions that he answered and were really pleased with our conversations that we had with him. I'd wish we could have booked some more tours with him, he does them all in Beijing. I gave him a very good tip....

GREAT WALL PRIVATE TOUR - Had the best tour ever. Lillian was our guide. She was exceptionally polite and made sure that we were very comfortable with everything. She even took video and pictures of us and sent them to us so we would have memories. She went above and beyond. Thank you Lillian for a fabulous day

Great Experience - Wu was punctual to pick us up in our hotel lobby. He was pleasant, insightful, engaging and took care of all of our needs. He drove safely and took care of everything for us. While he didn’t walk the wall with us (not expected) he did go up with us to take some pictures for us before waiting at the bottom for us to return. If you want a great experience visiting the wall, ask for Wu!!!!

Comfortable and safe drive - We had a comfortable and safe drive to Mutianyu Great Wall. It will be nice to hear some cool stories about the Great Wall from our driver/guide during our drive up.
