Dream comes true - It was my dream to travel to the Great China Wall. As soon as we reached Beijing we checked in to Mariut hotel and coordinated with a tourist agency representative to plan a whole day trip to the wall. It was an unbelievable visit, unbelievable hike and unbelievable experience.

Great Wall - Very nice section of the Great Wall. Some restored and some original. Very uncrowded which was nice. Well worth a visit!

Not as advertised. Do not book. - I thought I booked a private hiking day tour; Simatai west to Jinshanling, with bottled water and an English speaking guide. We got none of the above. Essentially this is a private driver who takes you there, and then takes you for lunch when you are done and drops you back. Even that was a challenge as he turned up an hour late and did not speak a word of English - which is fine if that is not what it specifically advertises.
We were dropped to Jinshanling and had to figure out where to walk ourselves as the driver did not come with us and there was NO GUIDE. There is no Simatai west in sight, and of course no water as the driver did not accompany us! We were not given water in the car either. We were dropped to the wall then just had to figure out where to walk/go.
You are better off getting your own transport there and doing it yourself, because that is what I did, only I had to pay £271!!! Way overpriced and is not as advertised. The lunch provided was great - this was the only thing that was advertised that we actually got!!! HAAA! What a joke.
