Delicious yet vegetarian - This evening İrem showed me how to make four common Turkish meze. Haydari (cheese and yogurt) - The mint is dried and fried in butter but the dill is fresh, chopped and sprinkled in. Haydari (cheese and yogurt with dill and dried mint) Babaganuș (smoked aubergine and parsley) Kabak Tarator (fried shredded courgette with yogurt) Havuç Tarator (fried shredded carrot with yogurt) I ate them with bread and that was a delicious meal. We talked about parents, children, art and Istanbul.

İstanbul’s meze - Attending the Turkish Meze Cooking for Beginners in Istanbul was a fantastic introduction to the rich tapestry of Turkish cuisine. From the moment we stepped into the kitchen, we were greeted with the tantalizing aroma of fresh herbs and spices, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. Our instructor patiently guided us through the process of preparing a variety of mezes, from classic favorites like hummus and ezme to lesser-known delights like muhammara and stuffed grape leaves. I must especially mention that we thoroughly enjoyed the carrot tarator. Each dish was a testament to the vibrant flavors and diverse ingredients that define Turkish meze culture. The hands-on experience of chopping, mixing, and tasting allowed us to develop a deeper understanding of the techniques and traditions behind these delectable appetizers. As we gathered around the table to enjoy our creations, we not only savored the delicious flavors but also celebrated the shared joy of cooking and eating together. It was an enriching and delicious experience that left us eager to explore more of Istanbul's culinary treasures.
