Highlights
  • Belgrade - Your journey commences with a pick-up from your place of stay in Belgrade, as we set off towards the east of Serbia. During the two-hour drive, we’ll be treated to stunning vistas and captivating tales of the region.
  • Golubac Fortress - The first landmark on our itinerary is the Golubac Fortress, an ancient stronghold that has protected numerous empires over the ages. Nestled in the dramatic landscape at the entrance of the Đerdap Gorge, Golubac resembles a castle straight out of a storybook. It boasts nine towers, each rising 20 to 25 meters high, and its commanding position over the Danube makes it one of the most picturesque fortresses along the river’s 2,850-kilometer journey from its source to the Black Sea.
  • Danube River - Continuing our exploration, we head to the Danube’s broadest point – the renowned Iron Gate. The vastness of the river here is awe-inspiring, resembling an inland sea.
  • Lepenski vir - A short 30-minute drive later, we arrive at Lepenski Vir. Discovered in 1965, this ancient site revealed a prehistoric settlement with sacred structures and imposing sculptures from one of the earliest Danube civilizations, dating back to 7000-6000 BC. This marks the dawn of European civilization. Our visit includes over 100 artifacts such as household items, tools, jewelry, altars, sculptures, and Neolithic pottery that depict life during the Mesolithic and Neolithic eras at Lepenski Vir. The exhibit also features reconstructions of burial practices and holographic recreations of the settlement’s dwellings.
  • Kapetan Misin breg - Post-museum, we’ll pause at a distinctive, traditional restaurant that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Danube. Here, you can indulge in a lunch featuring the regional delicacies of Eastern Serbia (cost not included).

We trust that your perspective will be enriched as we make our way back to Belgrade in the evening.

  • Belgrade - The tour wraps up with a return trip to your lodging in Belgrade, arriving in the late afternoon. Services conclude.

Relaxed journey - There will be no infinite prepared jokes and something like this. Just polite guide with interesting information about places and good driver. Everything was on time and with enough spare time for looking at sightseeing.

Great way to see Golubac and more - We had a great time in our tour of Golubac Fortress and Lepinski Vir - our guide Konstantin was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and timely. There is a lot to see and learn at Golubac and we got just enough time there. The lunch organized by the tour was well worth it - plenty of good food, and a great way to experience the traditional Serbian food and hospitality culture.

Fun, informative and well worth seeing - Excellent tour guiding by Vladimir who imparted knowledge in a clear and concise manner.....and even managed to survive the torrential downpour on the way back to Belgrade 😀! Both the fort and the ruins were well worth the trip....and the food was excellent too 😀!

Okay tour. Bring your own food. - Tour was okay. As with these tours, it’s more of a sight visit and the sights are BEAUTIFUL! The lunch for 15€ was overpriced and average. Bring your own lunch is you can. I was fortunate to meet some good people on this tour.

Good tour, overpriced. - The tour itself gave you everything it said it would and the guide was very good, however I do believe it is definitely overpriced for what you get. In my opinion I'd recommend people bring their own lunch and skip the "restaurant" as was not worth the 1700RSD

Golubac is worth the visit (Take lots of $$$ - you'll need it). - The driver and guide (Nevena) were very friendly and helpful. Nevena explained each point of interest and provided sufficient extra time as to not feel rushed. Golubac within/near the Gorge is worth the visit - especially if you pay extra to climb the steep hill (you must wear long pants and hiking shoes) to see the views from the other towers. The archeological site (Lepenski Vir) was OK - we went on a 38 oC day so the heat and humidity under the glass roof was unbearable. I do not think it is good value for money. We have been on many, many tours and I resent being asked to meet at another location (no matter how close it is to our hotel) when the tour operator originally offers "Hotel Pickup" (2nd time in 3 tours just in Belgrade). I also despise being taken to a preset restaurant for lunch that charges like a wounded bull in a country that has an average wage of less than $1000/month - I would much prefer to eat the local food in a local restaurant full of local people than to be taken to a restaurant that might provide nice scenery (already viewed along the way) - but I was just one of the tour participants so I went along with the majority.
