Additional Information

What better way to experience this unique cave than through the eyes of a local and licensed guide? Explore the past and learn the importance caves played in the lives of the Mayas. Imagine a world alive and imbued with sacred power divided into three domains: the starry arch of heaven; the stony middle world of earth made to flower and bear fruits; and, the dark waters of the underworld below; Xibalba.

A short swim through the crystal blue water leads you into this amazing realm.
Then working your way through a breakdown leads you into the main water passage, where you get to enjoy amazing geological formations like sparkling stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstones.
This hidden chamber promises to reveal ancient secrets and geological processes that have helped to shape the Mayan Underworld. We are referring back to the time when our ancestors believed that only priests could have ventured in and communicated with their gods or ancestors through rituals and ceremonies.

Great ATM cave experience - My husband and I wholeheartedly enjoyed our ATM cave adventure. It can seem intimidating at times but the guides were so helpful and made sure we were always safe. We were picked up on time and the lunch was delicious. We highly recommend this tour.

Best experience ever! - The cave was spiritual, the crystal clear water flowing through the cathedral like caverns was awe inspiring, and our guide, Patrick, was the perfect choice for this Indiana Jones/ archeological tour experience.

A must-do in Belize - Everything was wonderful. We were picked up promptly at the hotel. The tour was so amazing and fun. We had to swim, shimmy, climb and crawl. We all loved it. 3 late teens and myself all thoroughly enjoyed it. Fernando was a great guide. The lunch was delicious as well. An absolute must-do in Belize.

We learned a lot and got our workout in! - Our driver was great, our tour guide was fantastic and the site was out of this world. Our tour guide has been guiding in this cave for 20 years and we learned a ton from him. Our driver also has worked with archaeologists so that was really cool to learn about on the drive in. This trip is not for the faint of heart, though. We loved it but we’re in pretty good shape. There is some intense climbing and squeezing between rocks. It was the highlight of our trip to Belize.

Once in a lifetime experience - This has to be one of the coolest things we have ever done! It was not easy, some of our family were a bit sore for a day or two after our cave trek. I had never been in a cave before, knew we would swim in but didn't know what to expect from there. Wow! Lovely and easy hike for maybe 40 minutes to get there that also required crossing rivers, some deep enough to swim across but they had ropes to help you if you wanted them. Definitely had to swim into the cave and there were some parts once inside that I found easier to swim than wade through. Lots of climbing, twisting, stretching, squeezing to get through. Stunning sights, and that's before the Mayan artifacts and interesting finds at the far end of the cave. Our guide was Mayan, so interesting, full of facts and stories and interesting tidbits, he was funny too! Delicious meal at the end. Beware, cameras are not permitted, some careless tourist dropped his camera and broke and ancient piece of pottery deep inside he cave. You pretty much take nothing inside with you, at the end you remove your water shoes and just wear socks. I was afraid after swimming and being wet that it would be too cold in there (where I live in VA, caves are constant 59 degree), but I was not cold. Cannot say enough about this, once in a lifetime experience, though I'd love to do it again. Word was that it might close down for a while to preserve the site so we were glad we got to do it.

Bait and switch on price, but pretty awesome day trip - I'll start with the bad because it made me mad. They texted me the day before the trip and told me since I'm only one person I had to give them an extra $75 US to come pick me up in Belize City. They would not budge on the money, and it was too late to book something else. I paid it since this might be my only chance to do the tour. Since most travelers aren't solo its probably irrelevant. The tour itself is pretty amazing! Its a super easy hike about 2 miles to the caves. The caves are fun spelunking with quite a bit of climbing and water. The artifacts are pretty neat. No pics allowed. You need socks for part of it where they make you take your shoes off. Might want to bring a long sleeve rash guard. It got a little chilly getting in and out of water. Just do it!!

Not gud - Ruined my trip i based everything on the atm tour from belize city, i called to confrm as soon as i landed and the company confirmed, said they ll pick me upat 730 am so i paid a hotel in the city, if i had no atm tour, i d of gone straight to san pedro, then at 8pm they text me to cancel, or i cud pay another 100,,,, cancleing so last minute cuz they did not have others in belize city, saying their employees made a mistake by confirming, they should of made good on their word,,,,, very unprofesional and inconsiderate, and im asked to review? i never went as this messed up my plans, and to be honest, ive been to 101 countries, first time in belize, i cant understand the attraction, only the cave seemed intereting, there are neighboring countries, cheaoer more lively and fun ,
