Highlights
  • Belogradchik Rocks - The Belogradchik rocks form a 3 km wide and 30 kilometer long strip, and the rock formations reach some 200 meters in height. They were formed at the bottom of a sea as the product of compression some 230 million years ago and then erosion over the last 45 million years. The rocks, made largely of limestone, also hold hundreds of caves. Each one comes with a story. Each rock formation bears a name: Adam and Eve, The Schoolgirl, The Bear, The Shepherd boy, The Dervish, The First slabstone, The Camel, The Mushrooms, The Cuckoo, The Red wall, The Madonna, The Horseman, The Monks, The Mental stone, Rebel Velko, The Pine stone and so on.
  • Belogradchik Fortress - The fortress next to the rocks was built in the Middle Ages with an aim to control the road going from Sofia to the Danube. You will have the chance to explore it with a guided tour.

Excellent day trip - Going private is so much more worth it. Our guide Julian was very professional, helpful and full of knowledge about the local area. I would highly recommend this company

Nice fortress and amazing rocks - It was a nice experience to be here as surroundings were awesome. After reaching on the top everything was amazing. It’s good to book private tour to visit here from Sofia due to 3-4hrs of drive for one side and by public transport it would be hard to get back on same day. Our tour guide was nice as he also took us some other photography places too. It wasn’t too crowded so we easily covered all the spots.

Don't miss this day trip! - This was a great day trip. The scenery is spectacular - quite other worldly, as is the fortress. Our guide, Angel, spoke very good English, had a lot of information to share, and was a good driver. He also knew of a hidden overlook that gave us a panoramic view of the geology. The car was comfortable as well. We've been exploring Bulgaria for two weeks and this was probably our favorite destination. You shouldn't miss it!

Very interesting historical site - A very impressive site. There are some steep steps and not all of it is suitable if you don't like heights. Most of it is accessible to people with average fitness/mobility. Well worth a visit to see the stunning rocks and scenery.
