BERAT. This astounding urban center, identified as the ‘town of numerous windows’, gets its moniker from the unique architectural design found in the heart of Mangalem. As you delve deeper into Mangalem, you can expect to be mesmerized by its complicated maze of cobblestone pathways, which instill a feeling of stepping back in time to the middle-ages. The exhaustion of navigating Mangalem’s streets quickly fades, replaced by awe as you find yourself immersed amongst small windows clustered tightly, making it hard to differentiate between individual homes and linked edifices.
Resting on top of the hill with a view of Mangalem is the impressive castle, entered through a grandiose stone gateway. Enclosed within its walls is the famous Onufri Museum, the custodian of two unique treasures: the only known purple and golden Codecs in the world, lending a fascinating aspect to the history of this location.
Prepare for a truly intriguing voyage back in time as you explore this captivating city.
