The Hippodrome of Constantinople was also home to gladiatorial games, official ceremonies, celebrations, protests, torture to the convicts and so on.

Hagia Sophia Mosque - Hagia Sophia Mosque The Hagia Sophia, one of the historical architectural wonders that still remains standing today, has an important place in the art world with its architecture, grandness, size and functionality. Basilica Cistern - The Basilica Cistern, also known as the Yerebatan Cistern or the Sunken Palace, is an ancient underground water reservoir located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions and a remarkable architectural wonder.

Historical Background:
The Basilica Cistern was constructed during the reign of Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century AD. Istanbul, known as Constantinople at the time, was the capital of the Byzantine Empire. The cistern was built to provide a reliable water supply for the Great Palace of Constantinople, which stood nearby.

Architecture and Features:
The cistern is an enormous underground chamber that spans an area of about 9,800 square meters (105,000 square feet). It is supported by a forest of 336 marble columns, arranged in 12 rows, with each row consisting of 28 columns.

A 5+ guide and tour - We hit a home run with our tour guide, Sedat, from Get Your Guide. He was the consummate professional with 35 years of guiding experience and a wealth of historical and cultural information which he readily shared. We ate lunch, at his suggestion, at Nars, which had both outstanding food and service. Sedat readily adjusted our itinerary and graciously delivered us to our evening tour and provided us with many restaurant suggestions for the following morning. Thank you, Sedat, for many memories of your beautiful city and country.

Excellent excursion - A very enjoyable excursion for our family. We spent the day walking around hitting many of the sites. We did ask to bypass one of them and do the river cruise instead and they very fine with the adjustment. I would recommend this one day excursion.

Unforgettable Trip In Ephesus - Our guide, Ebru, was amazing! We found her as soon as we stepped out of the cruise terminal. She was professional and friendly. Super knowledgeable about Ephesus and showed as the ins and outs of the site. She even offered to look after our kids in the shades so we could explore the theater and library on our own. I can’t recommend her higher. Most memorable trip through out the cruise.

1 day Private tour of Istanbul - Our guide Erdam picked us up from our hotel in the Old City at the designated time. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable, guiding us through the history and the culture surrounding the Palaces and The Blue Mosque. Because we were a private tour Erdam was happy to tailor-make the sight seeing tour to our preferences. I would highly recommend this tour - extremely good value for money considering how much we saw in 1 day. Thank you Erdam

Best value for money ever - 1st time in Istanbul and by myself. The option of the guide and the driver was the best one because I visited all top points in security and comfort not too much walking always water and AC. Baris, the guide, explained everything, took me to the spots, new how to avoid queuing and answered all my question and had an infinite patience when I got hungry or tired. Highly recommend the 3 days tour with Baris.

Excellent full tour of Istanbul! 5🌟 - Upon arriving into Istanbul the whole place was daunting and absolutely massive! Our apprehension was alleviated when we met our guide for the two days we where here. His name was Burhan Doru and his knowledge and expertise in this city and it's historical sites is outstanding. The things we noticed like skipping long cues and getting us the best prices. On the whole it was fantastic and an excellent tour if you don't like missing out on anything as everything was covered. Thankyou for your time and effort Burhan Istanbul wouldn't have been the same experience without you. 5 🌟 Ryan & Ross from Scotland.

Cappadocia tour in Japanese - We had a kind and cheerful Turkish guide who showed us around in Japanese. He took his time at each tourist spot, so we were able to go all the way to the back and take photos, and we were also able to have photos taken of our friends at each of our destinations. It was a lot of fun. Thank you!
