Great tour, a must see! - My husband, daughter, and I went on this two-day tour. We had a great time, and our tour guides were very well-informed. The visit to Troy was very surprising, I am glad we added the second day. We liked Canankkale a lot, had some free time to ourselves, and liked the cafes and restaurants by the seashore. Thank you for such a well organized and informative tour. We highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Trip - Really enjoyed this trip arranged by Crowded House Tours. Got picked up at scheduled time 6.30am at my hotel in a Mercedes Sprinter people carrier, warm and comfortable. We had breakfast at a roadside cafe at approx 9.30am which we purchased ourselves and then a simple but decent lunch at a restaurant at approx 1pm which was included in the tour. The afternoon was spent driving around the Gallippoli Peninsula approx 2pm-5.30pm with a fantastic guide called Bulent, whose knowledge and information really made the day, really brought it alive, everyone agreed they really understood what had happened here, after completing the tour. Hotel in Cannakale overnight was very satisfactory, loads of excellent eating places near the hotel and we loved walking along the lively port esplanade in the evening and morning. Breakfast was provided by the hotel and we all found great coffees nearby. Got picked up at 10am and taken to the Troy Museum, a really super new building with great displays & information that brought the story of the discovery of the Troy site and its treasures to light. Would have been great if some of the treasures hadn't been stolen by a German archeologist and taken to Berlin, and had instead been in situ in Troy, but there was still lots to see. After the museum and lunch at a nearby cafe, the site tour was conducted by an excellent, upbeat and very humerous guide, who was very knowledgeable. We had dinner at a roadside cafe at about 7pm and arrived back in Istanbul about 10pm. A long but very enjoyable tour, recommended. Take good walking shoes, hat & sunnies (and a warm puffy jacket if going in November).

A wonderful and memorable experience - An amazing experience from start to finish. Ramazan (manager), his staff, and our guide Burak were truly excellent throughout. I have done several WWI battlefield tours and this was up there with the best. I travelled from Istanbul on 1st morning, and saw Troy on the 1st afternoon. The guide was an very knowledgeable local archeologist and historian. Crowded House Tours (CHT) organized a nice hotel in Çanakkale for my overnight stop. Morning 2 Cape Helles, and afternoon 2 ANZAC Cove area. In addition to the standard group tour of the Australian and New Zealand beaches, I wanted to see the British and French Landings on Cape Helles. Ramazan organized a private tour for me of Cape Helles with a cab driver and local guide Burak. Burak was very knowledgeable, delivered the history in a balanced and sensitive way, was funny and great company. A New Zealander on our group afternoon tour, had only basic details about a relative who died in the campaign. After some research, Burak found his unit and took them to the memorial where his name was commemorated...a lovely touch. CHT are trustworthy as well, Ramazan even waited for me to be present to charge my credit card, something he didn't have to do. Great value for money at €220 all in (transfers, hotel, 2 lunches). There are regular stops, but consider taking some snacks and water for the long minibus journey. I would really highly and thoroughly recommend them.

Top notch operation - We contacted several companies to do the Gallipalli / Troy tour from Istanbul as it was a daunting task to do a self organized tour having to negotiate transportion, hotels, etc. It turned out to be the better and cheaper option as all the finer details were looked after for us, all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the tours, and exchange stories with other interesting travellers! We enjoyed the tours so much that we also booked the tour to Pumakkale with Crowded House. Even with Ramadhan and us not speaking any Turkish, Ramazan Altunas who is the Manager of Crowded House responded to all our enquiries, the guides were knowledgeable, lunches were good and they were always on time. Crowded House is a local business providing quality service at a competitive price!

Adventures in History - Of the various options available by Crowded House tours, the two days is the best choice to see Troy since it includes the New Troy museum and the opportunity to see the gold and treasures excavated from the archeological site. Some of the people on our tour just booked the day trip from Istanbul, which is almost ten hours on the road total for just an hour and a half walk around the ruins of Troy. Gallipoli was an interesting addition, well worth the time for the history and monuments. Burak and Sindy were wonderful guides, very amusing and fun to talk to. Burak could be a stand up comedian he is so funny. The only caveat of the overnight trip is that the Anzac Hotel is very basic, as expected for a budget tour, but we experienced some plumbing issues. Plenty of great restaurants nearby for dinner in Canakkale. Take the extra time for all the great experiences, the highlight being 100% the New Troy Museum.
