Highlights
  • Biarritz - Biarritz was visited by kings such as Edward VII or Alfonso XIII and continues to be a favourite of many of the aristocracy, known as
the Queen of Resorts and the Resort of Kings.

There is about 40 minutes drive to the stop.

The town is mostly made up of bourgeois houses and mansions. This touch of luxury is perfectly balanced with the more relaxed surf culture, which has a long tradition in Biarritz. This interesting contrast is undoubtedly part of the town’s identity.

We will walk the promenade coast to coast, visiting the lighthouse with gorgeous views, the art deco casino, fishing port, the neogotic Saint Eugenie church and “La rocher de la vierge”. Wonderful!

  • Saint-Jean-de-Luz - We travel back in time to discover the secrets of this fishing village through the marriage between Louis XIV of France and the Spanish princess Maria Teresa of Austria. We will visit the Saint Jean Baptiste church, the Louis XIV square, the port and the Maison Adam shop with more than 350 years of history.

We can’t skip the market stroll or Gambetta street: The fish corner and local delicacies such as a big variety of cheese, the famous piment d’Espelette, local ham, gateau basque (a famous creamy pie) or Basque style table linen.

Before leaving, we will enjoy a fabulous stroll along the Grand Plage, one of the main attractions of the village. Spectacular!

There is about 20 minutes drive to the stop.

  • Socoa Beach - In the same bay, on the opposite side of Saint Jean de Luz is the village of Ciboure and its neighbourhood of Socoa, a secret jewel.

It boasts a couple of beautiful sandy beaches, a fishing port and fabulous architecture. At the end of the bay rises the Fort of Socoa, built in the early 17th century to protect the port from Spanish invaders.

This is a perfect spot to enjoy a lunch overlooking the sea. Taste the local food such as mussels, seafood, squid or fish or eat something lighter in any of the restaurants. Delicious!

  • Chateau Observatoire Abbadia - At the end of the corniche we will find the amazing castle of Antoine Abbadie.
This incredible dream palace was built between 1864-1884 by the famous le Duc. Antoine, explorer, lover of astronomy, science and ethnology could develop his studies from a privileged and strategic point.

There is about 40 minutes drive to San Sebastian.

Discover this spectacular building for all kinds of public (kids love it) since it is composed of multiple architectures, details of exotic animals and an infinity of hidden corners and a beautiful park. A must visit.

PD: You will have 45 minutes to visit by yourself with a guidebook

A day we'll cherish forever! - Our French Basque tour with Jon was Earra Tours will go down as one of the best travel experiences we've had. The photos he took on this day will live in frames and albums for decades to come. It was so nice to leave the driving up to someone else - we didn't the hassle of a car rental, border crossing, or where/how to park in another country. Jon was also very intuitive to our interests by suggesting a winery tour over seeing historical sites. It was so nice to wander these picturesque villages with him while he told stories and pointed out some of his favorite shops. He assisted with the various languages of Spanish, Basque, and French and even helped me count out Euro coin to help pay for items. I highly recommend this tour to anyone staying in the region - don't miss out on French Basque!
