Highlights
- Keauhou Bay - This 4-1/2 hour cruise departs daily from Keauhou Bay and includes 2-1/2 hours of snorkeling at pristine Kealakekua Bay, snorkel gear, instruction, floatation gear, high dive, two 15’ water slides, and environmentally friendly reef-safe sunscreen.
Guests are served a light tropical breakfast of a fresh island fruit bowl, traditional muesli, homemade banana bread, assortment of teas including Hawaiian Mamaki, and 100% Kona Coffee grown on the Fair Wind family farm. Our island-inspired lunch features a savory BBQ Jackfruit & coleslaw sandwich (pulled pork style) and tasty chickpea sandwich (tuna salad style). Sides include ‘ulu (breadfruit) & purple sweet potato salad and a mixed green salad with an array of homemade dressings. To top things off, enjoy a fresh homemade cookie dessert before heading back out for more beautiful snorkeling. During the last hour of the cruise, our cash bar is open with cocktails, beer & wine for purchase.

One Hawaii Tour That You Can Count On To Have An Amazing Time - This was the fourth time going on this tour. Fair Wind Big Island Ocean Guides and always have an amazing time. The location is beautiful with nice coral and pretty fish. The crew are very attentive and nice. The boat is great and has fun slides and jumping platform. They have gone to a plant based menu and the food is good. Best part is the cookies on the way back to the marina.

Wonderful experience! Book it! - The morning snorkel tour to Kealakekua Bay was amazing! The Fair Wind staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was delicious- I don’t usually eat a plant based diet, but I would eat any of that food again. The breakfast was especially great. My husband opted for the snuba add-on and really enjoyed it. Book this tour!

Great day but bring your own Reef friendly SPF 50 - Fair wind was a great operation! They were professional and organized! The lunch was not the best, but breakfast was great! The area had lots of fish ands beautiful! I do recommend bringing your own reef friendly SPF50 or above sunscreen! Theirs is only SPF30 and we got burned because we weren’t allowed to use our own. Other than that I would definitely recommend them!

Amazing in every way - The boat was AMAZING. My BIL could snorkel because of the steps into the water. Kids loved the slides. The food was surprisingly good and I have never had such an amazing staff experience. Best snorkeling experience ever!

Environmentally conscious - The staff was very attentive. Very environmentally conscious, serving only vegan food and using only recyclable supplies which was a great learning experience for kids. The snorkeling it was very good and very easy. Snuba is offered for an extra fee

10/10 experience - Our trip out on Hula Kai with Isaac and his team was fabulous. They were great at giving a safety briefing at each location. They were super kind and accommodating. They even gave one person in our party a viewing box to snorkel since the mask make them feel claustrophobic. It was so great for her to be a part of what we saw snorkeling!

Fun for all ages - We loved our May 2024 morning snorkel on Fair Winds. We had seven people between the ages of 12 and 70 and all had a great time. The crew was efficient, friendly, and hard working. The plant-based meals were delicious. Part of my group didn’t even realize their BBQ sliders weren’t meat! We saw spinner dolphins in the bay and a pod of long nosed dolphins used our wake on the way back to the harbor. We had a mix of swimmers and not so great swimmers and the crew made it so we could ALL enjoy snorkeling. For the not so great swimmers they offered multiple types of flotation and viewing boxes so we could still enjoy snorkeling without actually snorkeling. The comfortable swimmers loved snorkeling and had a blast going down the slides and jumping off the high dive. I lost count at how many types of fish we saw and the coral was beautiful. There were quite a number of people on board but we never felt crowded. I also appreciated that they offered reef safe sunblock for free to all the guests. Great time! One of the highlights of our trip.

Go for the Bay not the food. - We’ve been taking this cruise to Kalakaua Bay for over 15 years. While much more crowded than it used to be the bay itself is so amazing. This time we took our grandchildren and they had their first time snorkeling and swimming in open water. It was so much fun and the crew does a terrific job.
That said, the vegan menu gets a big Mr Yuck sticker from us. Nothing that the kids wanted to eat and the adults were not impressed. I find it interesting that most restaurants will include a vegan options for vegans, but this cruise has no options for the non- vegans who are 97% of the world population.
If you take kids bring your own food.
We all left hungry.
Would have definitely earned the fifth star.
