On arrival, gain a comprehensive understanding of one of the most intriguing marine species. Accompany your professional and accredited guides underwater as you engage with the magnificent hahalua (manta rays). We provide snorkeling equipment, instructions, wetsuits, and swim noodles free of charge. Complimentary water, juice, soft drinks, hot chocolate, and cookies are also included. Guests have the option to purchase beer, wine, and mixed drinks from our fully stocked bar.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- A minimum of 2 people per booking is required
- Any tour participants that are getting in the water MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM without the assistance of a flotation device
- Children under the age of 5 are not allowed in the water and MUST be accompanied by an adult on the vessel at all times

- We offer discounted self parking at the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha Hotel. Parking charge is $13 for up to 5.5 hours. Please remember to bring your parking ticket with you at check-in.
- PLEASE NOTE that trip start times VARY throughout the year to accommodate for the time changes of the setting sun.
- Not recommended for travelers that are not strong swimmers. If guest is not a competent swimmer (as determined by the Captain and/or crew), they will be directed to immediately return to the vessel. In such instances the guest will NOT be refunded

Trip of a LIFETIME! - First off I never write reviews, but for these guys I had to. We went on the sunset cruise/manta night snorkel with Kona Style and had THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME!!! I have been out with a different company for this night snorkel, but this crew was the best I’ve seen. They were so friendly and walked everyone through exactly what they would be doing. Getting into the ocean…at night…with large animals in the water can be intimidating. They were with you every step of the way and for someone who has been coming here for over 40 years, all I can say is this is a MUST DO!!! The mantas are so incredible and you won’t be disappointed!!!! Don’t miss out! We come back to this trip every year when we come out here to the Big Island. Mahalo Kona Style!!!

Exciting Excursion! - My girls and I totally enjoy this excursion! The boat was nice and the crew was great! Sunset ride on the boat was beautiful! We saw many Mantas and I was grazed at least 6 times!

Excellent - From the moment we hit the water, mantas were coming up to feed. They were inches from our faces! Amazing adventure!
The staff was informative, helpful and paid attention to details. Everyone was professional and friendly. The boat was so clean and very well kept. Wonderful experience all the way around!

The BEST Manta Tour & it’s on a Catamaran!! - Stop your searching and book with Kona Style now! I originally booked a trip w/ a different company (it’s hard to tell what company you are booking with because they all use the same booking software) that had a small dingy-style boat that you have to “plop” in the water. Then a friend gave us the crucial advice to make sure we book with a company that uses a catamaran, which was a life-saver. I cancelled with the small-boat company and booked with Kona Style. Everyone at Kona Style was so friendly, professional, and knowledgeable!! They made sure to find the perfect spot. The sunset was beautiful, my kids loved riding in the front of the catamaran, my husband and I loved the adult beverages on board (added charge), and the hot chocolate (complimentary)was a HUGE hit with the entire family on the trip back!! While we watched other manta tours set up and let their people “plop/fall” into the water from the side of the boat, Kona Style gave us VIP treatment with an easy-to-use staircase to walk into and out of the water. There are a lot of companies and a lot of great reviews — but if you do not book with Kona Style, you are missing out on a top-notch experience (for the same price)!!

Manta Ray Snorkel with Reliable Crew - I joined this activity with my 8 and 10 year-old kids. Before meeting the crew, I was a little worried as kids were young and we needed to float in the dark sea at night for 30 minutes or so for this activity. But from the veteran captain to the youngest crew member-Curley, all of the crew were so sincere and reliable. There were some minutes that we couldn't see manta rays, but one middle-aged crew member started to explain about manta rays so we were able to wait for mantas without boredom. He spoke so enthusiastically so that all of us could hear, even with himself in the water. It was not difficult to float in the water as we could put our feet on the swimming noodles. When we failed to keep putting our feet on the swimming noodles, the crew gave help immediately. The crew kept eyes on us so that they could deal with the situation. After we saw manta rays enough, we wanted to go back to the boat earlier than the rest, and the crew immediately accepted our intention and took us to the boat. We could see many manata rays safely and satisfactorily.

Amazing Experience! - Great Tour! We chose this tour because we got to combine a sunset cruise with the snorkeling with the manta rays. I was so glad we went with Kona Style. 1) The boat is great. You are not crammed in like sardines like a lot of other boat tours. 2) The office and dock are in downtown Kailua-Kona. 3) The crew was awesome... super friendly and helpful. 4) Most importantly, we got to see so many manta rays! It was amazing... they swam within INCHES of us!!! Super cool!
I wish I has some good photos to upload. Unfortunately, my underwater phone case kept my phone dry but didn't work to allow me to take any pictures.

Awesome - What a trip! Great staff, fun boat road, great captain. Seeing the Manta Rays up close was definitely a highlight of our family vacation. Our kids will never forget it. Would definitely do this again.

Dissapointing - Crew was great but tour was disappointing as we only saw 4 small mantas most at a distance and none up close, for a total period of about 20 seconds despite being in the water for about 40 minutes. Given the high cost of this tour and the hype associated with it, we were very disappointed with this outcome. I would recommend only doing this tour if you understand and are comfortable spending this kind of money for a minor encounter as for all I know this level of encounter could be the norm.
