Disappointing. - We saw the good reviews and booked this for our four kiddos as a surprise. It seemed great at first but then as he was putting the kids in the water my oldest legally blind daughter was cheering on her sister and telling her how to paddle with her arms and the guy was making hand motions for her to be quiet, so I told her to be quiet and tried to explain to him that she couldn’t see his hand motions so she didn’t know he was asking her to not teach. He proceeded to put my kids in the water then turned to argue with me after they couldn’t hear. Saying didn’t I see he sent my son out to go paddle to my other daughter, I said yeah and once again just tried to explain my visually impaired daughter couldn’t see him signaling with his hands to be quiet, but that I had passed it on, that I understand he didn’t want her coaching (which I could respect) but she just couldn’t see him signaling when to stop. He for the second time said “if she wants to take a lesson she can tell them how it’s done” further shoving it in my 17 year olds face that she could not be out there taking a surf lesson because she can’t see. When I tried to defend her and says he can’t take a lesson because she can’t see he then asked “who’s blind” as if I was the problem, zero tact in this scenario. I would never expect someone to just know, she didn’t have her cane and was using me to sight guide but when I corrected him he got worse and insulting. Totally embarrassed her and made her feel less than. Then he proceeded to paddle out to my children and according to them essentially trash talk me. Then during the lesson taught 2/4 kids and left the other two to float in the water with his wife saying they said they were too tired. I did two stars because 2/4 kids had a nice time, while the other two did not enjoy it and shut down as soon as he came out talking poorly about me. Not to mention he managed to insult my 17 year old who was not even taking lessons. If I truly left what I’d felt I’d give 0 stars but like I said I want to give small amount of credit that two of my kids did get a decent lesson, but if your kids are naturally athletic maybe don’t bother because my two were told they were not advanced enough. Sadly the two that got left out were also my two adopted black kids, hope that was purely coincidental and not a racist move but I’ll leave you to determine that.
