Highlights
  • Villarías Kalea, 1 - Meeting point for check-in at our shop @tournebilbao.
  • Bilbao La Concordia Station - The Concordia train station, designed at the beginning of the 19th century with striking architecture both inside and out, will be our starting point on this alternative route through the Bilbao La Vieja neighborhood.
  • Martzana Kaia - Located to the left of the San Antón Bridge, it owes its name to an old tower house that stood nearby. Today it is a place full of bars and restaurants that reflects the change in the neighborhood in recent years.
  • BBK Kuna | Garapen Jasangarriko Helburuen Etxea (GJH) - The former nursery is an old building in which the children of day laborers were cared for and today the goal is to turn it into a center to promote innovation projects. Nearby we will also visit different works of urban art made by local artists (external visit only).

  • Centro Municipal Bilborock-La Merced - Former 17th century church converted into a cultural center with a concert hall, cinema and workshop rooms.
  • San Luis meategiko kiskaltze-labea - Old calcination furnace of the San Luis Mine that has remained as a reminder of the mining past of the area and that leads to the Miribilla neighborhood, the last urban regeneration of the area.
  • Bilbo Zaharra Kalea - Former border between old Bilbao and Calle de San Francisco, it has now been converted into an area with a lot of atmosphere thanks to the new restaurants and works of urban art that dot all its corners.
  • Mariaren Bihotza Plaza - In this square, the nerve center of the multicultural neighborhood of San Francisco, there is a site of an old Franciscan convent from the 16th century as well as Sarean, a neighborhood meeting space managed by a neighborhood cultural association. Here we will have the opportunity to finish the route having a beer.
  • BilbaoArte Fundazioa - Artistic production center in the center of Bilbao where professionals in screen printing, sculpture and technology share a space, being a clear benchmark for the Basque cultural scene.

Additional Information

Art, culture, and craft beers come together in a visit to Bilbao’s most creative side. While the Guggenheim Museum is now a key part of the city’s landscape, Bilbao had a significant cultural scene long before its arrival.

The city is gaining more recognition for its artistic contributions, including remarkable street art. You’ll have the chance to explore these artistic expressions up close with our knowledgeable local guides.

  • If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.

Highlight of our trip to Bilbao! - This is a great tour to do for anyone interested in art, culture, history and people. Our guide Txema was an absolute fountain of knowledge about Bilbao, knowledgeable and non-judgemental. The story of the re-generation of Bilbao la Vieja through art is inspirational. For my daughter and I it was one of the highlights of our trip, I would thoroughly recommend this tour :)
