Highlights
  • Mount Monserrate - This stunning hill, standing at 3,150 meters (10,335 feet) above sea level, is a symbol of Bogotá. You can reach the top via Funicular or Cable car, where you’ll find the beautiful Sanctuary of ‘El Señor Caído de Monserrate,’ a special sculpture symbolizing peace and reconciliation. A tour guide will explain the history of the monastery, and you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the city. The guide will also discuss Bogotá’s current social and political landscape, sharing intriguing stories and secrets about the city’s structure. Note: On Sundays, the visit will be to Cerro de Guadalupe instead of Monserrate due to high visitor numbers.
  • Barrio La Candelaria - This charming colonial area, where Bogotá was founded, features beautiful colonial architecture mixed with a bohemian atmosphere. You’ll visit notable attractions such as the Botero Museum, Casa de la Moneda (Numismatic Museum), Luis Ángel Arango Library, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez Cultural Center.
  • Plaza de Bolivar de Bogota - The main governmental hub of Colombia, home to significant attractions like the National Capitol, Bogotá Mayor’s Office, the Religious Street, and the Colombian Court House. Your private tour guide will discuss key political topics and Colombian history, including the country’s development, military, and social issues.
  • Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) - Showcases a diverse collection of Pre-Columbian artifacts from Colombia, made from gold, silver, copper, emeralds, wood, and ceramics. The museum provides insights into indigenous groups and the significance of these pieces. With over 35,000 items on display, it is considered one of the largest and most valuable exhibitions in the world. (Closed on Mondays; alternatives include the Emerald Museum, La Quinta House (Simón Bolívar’s house in Bogotá), or extended guided tours of the itinerary’s main highlights, subject to change based on circumstances beyond our control).
  • Centro Internacional - One of Colombia’s key financial centers and a historic site, featuring some of the oldest structures like the Santa Maria Bullfighting Arena and the National Museum.
  • Park Way - Unique in America, this area is known for its extensive ‘Tudor’ architectural style from 1900 to 1930, characterized by its urban and residential design.
  • Cafe de la Fonda - Learn about and witness the roasting process of Colombian coffee, which is often done in Bogotá due to its proximity to the international airport. You’ll explore different qualities of Colombian coffee, with opportunities to touch, taste, and smell the best coffee in the world in a local setting. (Visits may be restricted by management and scheduling).

Good tour of the city - Great tour with Saray as a guide, always very attentive and helpful, explaining every detail of the history of Bogotá. The tour, with Arturo as driver, was very enjoyable. Although, I think that the cost of the tour is high, taking into account the places visited (Sundays the museums are free), since it was Palm Sunday we could not go by funicular to Monserrate and that lunch is not included.

Tourism - I had a great time touring the City with Bogotravel Tours. The bike tour was fun and exciting, riding around the city and the historical part of downtown Bogota was amazing. I got to hang chat with some of locals and eat some traditional food and also learned about the culture.

Not worth it - We were a group of 10 on 25th Dec. Fabio, our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable and helpful. Answered a ton of questions from the kids and was very patient and helpful. No issues with the tour, per se. However, our trip was on 25th, Christmas Day and some of the attractions were closed. We booked this trip over a month in advance and the tour company emailed us 2 days before the trip day telling us that some locations might be closed. That is a dishonest trade practice. We were not given any discounts for the closures/truncated itinerary. We spent a total of around $1000 USD on this tour and spent a lot of time inside a cramped up van. For what we paid, the experience was not worth it and left a bad taste. Not a reflection on Fabio, who was an excellent guide, but on the tour company.
