Highlights
  • Boseong Green Tea Field Daehan Dawon - Boseong is a county in South Jella Province, and it has the perfect climate and soil for growing green tea with a distinct taste and aroma. Among many tea farms in Boseong, “Daehan Dawon” is the iconic site of green tea plantation because of its huge size and magnificent view with rolling hillsides of green tea bushes. We will stroll along the paths to the top observatory while enjoying fresh air and a spectacular layered view. At the end of the walking, we will taste green tea ice-cream! This place is green all year round. - Yeongcheon-ri - From this tea farm observatory, we can enjoy beautiful view with a lake and green tea plantation. We will stop here for a peaceful rest and nice photos. - Boseong-eup - There are two choices for lunch. The first main dish is the grilled pork patties with green tea powder, which is the local specialty in Boseong. The second main dish is the steamed rice wrapped in a lotus leaf, and it is good for vegetarians. - Korea Tea Museum - Korea tea museum was established to introduce the Korean tea culture and history in 2010. Visitors can view the whole process from cultivation to production of tea with graphic panels, images, and dioramas. There is a tea experience room, so we will learn how to prepare and drink tea in Korea through educational and hands-on experience. - Gangjin Dawon - Gangjin Tea Plantation is located at the foot of Mt. Wolchulsan and has been cultivated for green tea production since 1980 by ‘Amorepacific (Osulloc)’, a leading tea producer in Korea. But the history of tea culture in Gangjin is over 1,000 years as tea trees have been cultivated in many Buddhist temples around the mountain since Goryeo Dynasty. The tea produced in Gangjin has a strong scent and rarely tastes bitter. With rocks standing above Mt. Wolchulsan, Gangjin Tea Plantation creates a grand spectacle. - Baegundong Hermitage Garden - Baeg-un-dong garden was built and structured when Lee Damro (1627 - 1701) carved ‘Baeg-un-dong’ on the rock next to the valley. This was a place where scholars exchanged culture and enjoyed the arts. It also adds to the value that has been the cradle of Korean tea culture. This hermitage properly combines the nature and the manmade in an ornate composition and preserves the original form of the forest. - Seongjeon-myeon - Baeg-un Tea House was established to commemorate the achievements of Lee Han-young, who created the first Korean tea brand, Baegun Okpan Tea, in 1920s. And the tea history here goes further back to 1800s. Jeong Yak-yong, the greatest scholar of the Joseon Dynasty, loved tea while exiled in Gangjin. And the way he made and enjoyed tea has passed down through one of his disciples, and this is the place where this historical tea making is inherited. Visitors can taste the rice cake tea that Jeong Yak-yong enjoyed.
