We Love Chobe! - We went on the full day Chobe safari and river tour and loved it! The tour started with a 3+ hour safari into the wilds of Chobe National Park in Botswana. We saw lions from 7 feet away as well as hippos, giraffe, zebra, Cape buffalo, elephants, impala, kudu, water buck, fish eagles, a water monitor, and much more. After a buffet lunch, we went on a 3+ hour fast boat on the Chobe River, and saw a great number of hippos up close, including in the water, out of the water, and a baby only a few days old, Cape buffalo, crocs, etc. What a well-run tour of a beautiful park!

Chobe! You are a special place! - We did our fair share of safaris, but this was fantastic! Maano Adventures picked us up at our hotel in Vic Falls at 6AM. The one-hour drive was comfortable, and we enjoyed the conversation with Enock and our driver, Webster. After crossing the border into Botswana, we were met by Maano Adventures’ safari partner. CK was our guide for the morning, and we thoroughly enjoyed his energetic personality and lively commentary! We spent the morning driving in an open safari vehicle as a group of 7 people and started out with a very cute show by two badgers! We saw tons of elephants including some babies, giraffes, impalas, kudus, and lots more. CK was in constant communication with the other guides and after being notified rushed us over to a pack of 12+ lions feasting on a buffalo they had just hunted. The videos we got of the lions playing are incredible! We continued and saw some Cape buffalo, hippos and a loner lion that walked right next to the vehicle for several minutes. For lunch we went to a stunning lodge for a top notch buffet. The seafood stew was delicious! We spent the afternoon cruising the Chobe River with Captain Cherry and had a once in a lifetime experience watching a large herd of male elephants crossing the river! They put on a spectacular show bathing and swimming until you could only see the tip of their trunks above the water. We also saw various sizes of crocodiles and more hippos. Enock (Maano Adventures) accompanied us and made sure we were a very small group (5 people) for the best picture opportunities. Drinks were provided for both morning and afternoon and we also took our own cooler with some adult beverages. Wear layers as mornings are cool but during the day it gets warm. It was a long day, but our hearts were full, and we had over a thousand pictures and videos to treasure forever! I can’t recommend Maano Adventures enough! They are a small locally owned company and from the first time I spoke to Enock while still back in the States the service was 5-star! We booked both the half day whitewater rafting and the Chobe day trip with Enock and both exceeded every possible expectation we had! We can’t wait until next time and will most definitely book with Maano Adventures again!

A billion elephants and a lion - We did this one day tour and it was fantastic from start to finish. Chobe is a magical area full to the brim with wildlife. The day started with a taxi journey to the border from our hotel setting off around 8am where we met our local guide Phil. Phil was awesome. Getting over the Botswana border is straightforward enough. From here we travelled (just the three of us) in the open sided safari vehicle and it's not far to the entrance to the national park. On the way we stopped at a supermarket to add to the contents of our cool box. Phil seemed to know everyone and another guide stopped to tell him about the location of a male lion so off we went. We arrived upon a scene with several other vehicles near this lion. At first Phil put us near the middle of the cars, and quickly some instinct caused him top reverse the vehicle to the back. At that moment the lion stood up and pranced right past us! Well done Phil! Chobe is very full of wildlife, but there are also a lot of other safari vehicles. So it felt a bit like a circus at times. But the elephants were so massive in number we just had an amazing experience alongside them frolicking in the mud and the water. At one point Phil helped an Austrian couple get their vehicle unstuck from the sand. Cheers all round! We also spotted a few giraffes and hippos as well as some beautiful birds. Phil knew about them all of course and answered all our questions. After a couple of hours of driving around the park we were taken to lunch at a nearby lodge with a decent buffet of hot food and deserts. for the afternoon we took a boat trip. We were united with a group of 6 others but with Phil again at the helm. Here were took a small motorboat along the watery border with Namibia stopping to see crocodiles, birds and spotting hippos. It was a beautiful scene with elephants dotting the landscape both near and far. This was also a two hour trip and very beautiful. Then it was back to the border and the taxi laid on by Maano for our return to Livingstone. An absolutely unforgettable day. Bring your camera.
