Fantastic birthday present sailing on Windermere. - My wife treated me to an afternoon of sailing on Windermere for my birthday present. I’ve only sailed once and that was about 30 years ago. I was nervously excited. We got to the jetty early and the yacht arrived promptly. After an initial chat with Ian and fitting life vests we set off. We reversed the yacht into the middle of the water whilst Ian set the sails and then we sailed up toward Windermere with me on the tiller. It was a very windy and wet day. Ian gave instruction on how to get the best out of the wind. He is very patient and calm which is good given all my mistakes. And then we turned around and headed back into the wind. Tacking was very demanding but great fun. I panicked a couple of times when the boat tipped at an angle more than I was comfortable with. Again Ian was very calm and put me at ease explaining that the boat could tip so much further. I managed to avoid all the red and yellow buoys and other boats and made it back to the jetty. It was an amazing birthday present and an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this experience. You’ll be in safe hands under Ian’s guidance. Thankyou.

Don’t leave without a sail on Lake Windermere! - My husband and I had an amazing experience with Sailing Windermere. This is a must-do if you’re visiting the Lake District. It was my first time sailing, and I was actually invited to steer the boat for the duration of our sail. I was a little intimidated but Ian gave great instruction, and it gave me a whole new appreciation and perspective. We enjoyed learning some things about the area during our sail as well. This was such a fun and unique experience - would highly recommend for anyone visiting Windermere!

Excellent sailing experience - We had a brilliant sailing experience with our skipper Richard. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and supportive, and as two complete novices he made us feel comfortable in steering and operating the boat. He was very interesting and easy to talk to. We came away from the experience feeling exhilarated and excited to try sailing again!

Sun and sail all the way - A very relaxing gentle sail on Windermere with skipper Ian. Easy meet up at the Langdale Chase Hotel followed by 2hrs of gentle breezes and…….sun! Even the weather gods were smiling on us😎

A brilliant way to see the lake - Ian was a brilliant host- he kept us informed of bad weather prior to the trip and moved days around to ensure that we weren’t disappointed by the storms this weekend. The tour around Windermere was fab- he encouraged us to be hands on with the tiller and guided us into the wind and around the lake. He’s a thoroughly nice guy with an in depth knowledge of the area and fun to spend time with. We both really enjoyed our sail around Windermere; we’d highly recommend this as an activity - we’re regular visitors to the Lake District and this was something different and lots of fun

Amazing experience - What an amazing experience! We set off from Storrs Hall Hotel, (which had plenty of free parking) and spent a lovely two hours sailing on the lake. Ian was a fab host, with a great sense of humour and plenty of funny stories to tell. Overall a great activity - highly recommend.
