Our journey involves visiting the grand 10th-century castle, and the distinguished Dukes of Bragança Palace in the historical nucleus of Guimarães.
After a restful lunch break (courtesy included), we proceed to Braga, Portugal’s time-honored city and its religious epicenter. The city has been an archiepiscopal stronghold and a pilgrimage destination for ages. Our visit includes the Sé, an 11th-century cathedral, and the Bom Jesus Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, perched on one of the city’s hills.

Excellent full day out! - Group of 5 friends from Manchester UK, May 2024.
Maria Sanchez from 496tourism took us on the small group all day tour of Braga and Guillemares. She was an excellent tour guide, allowing us plenty of time to look round and take photos. She was very informative, you can tell she loves her job and retelling the history of the areas. The food was exceptional, and the restaurant owner also took the time to talk with us. Highly recommend!

Guimarães and Braga are a must see - We had a great day. Alvaro made the tour engaging and entertaining. We learned tons from him. Guimarães and Braga were super interesting and we are very happy we visited. Don’t miss them if you have the time in Porto.

Good History of northern Portugal - Alvaro is very knowledgeable. Looks much was massive (& good). Castle near the end with the history of the age was excellent. I liked doing the 572 steps (my option at the 1st stop). Beautiful Day!

Day trip - Weather did not cooperate but was a worthwhile trip. The van can accommodate 9 not including the driver. They do fully book all 9 when they can so it can be uncomfortable for some.

Wonderful Historic cities - Braga and Guimares are spectacular cities full of history, for that reason a tour guide is necessary.

It's a good tour, but a little too long. - Bom Jesus is pretty cool to see. The towns of Braga and Guimareas are not totally worth seeing. The castle in Guimaraes is quite small, is just an empty shell and you cannot walk along the top anymore as a tourist apparently fell off in 2023 and they've now closed it. The palace has been rebuilt, so it's not completely "historical". The lunch was nice - soup, fish (or meat if you choose), dessert. There was nice wine. My opinion would be to skip Guimaraes, or tour it on your own, visit Bom Jesus and Braga on your own as well, or with a half day tour instead.

never came to pick us up - We waited in our hotel's lobby to be picked up, but they never came. I asked a lady at the check-in desk to call the company (CoolTour Oporto), she did, and said they would not come, because they mixed up the date or something, but they would refund us. They sent us an apology in a text message and did refund us.
