Highlights
  • Brasov - Accompanied by expert forest guardians, we’re set for an extraordinary journey in one of Europe’s most abundant regions for large predators. Our adventure unfolds in a pristine landscape, home to unspoiled plant and animal life. This region was once a preferred hunting ground for notable Romanian figures, including Ceausescu.
After reaching the Bear Observatory, we’ll spend 2-3 hours observing bears in their untamed and natural habitat.
From the seclusion of a hidden observatory, we’ll watch over the wilderness, enhancing our chances to catch a glimpse of the brown bears. Throughout this period, we’ll gain insights into the behavior and living environments of the wild creatures, guided by the knowledge of a forest ranger.

Additional Information

The park keeper will rendezvous with you close to the historic heart of Brasov in the p.m., escorting you via an air-cooled compact bus or personal vehicle into the Transylvanian terrain, situated near Brasov.

The wildlife of Romania is home to over 5,000 brown bears, and our plan is to observe them in their natural habitat. En route to the wilderness, you’ll be briefed on the intriguing specifics of these magnificent creatures, their routines and how they grow to such immense proportions.

Upon reaching, you’ll accompany the ranger to the lookout point. Here, we’ll patiently and silently anticipate the appearance of the bears.

The probability of spotting these colossal creatures is about 90%. If lucky, you might witness everything from dominant males to matrons frolicking with their young.

Alongside bears, there’s also the potential of observing other creatures such as boars, roe and red deer, along with various species of game birds that reside here.

Important Reminder: Do wear comfy footwear as we’ll be required to tread from the vehicle to the observatory on foot.

Bears up close and personal - We saw 2 bears. The guide was informative. He made every effort to ensure that the group would get to see at least 1 bear.

Fantastic! - We did two tours courtesy of Dan ☺️ He was so insightful for our walking tour and was able to hook us up with the bear tour which was equally as fabulous. Dan was insightful and very responsive. We couldn't recommend him enough! Cormac and Sarah
