5 year anniversary trail ride - Incredible experience! So welcoming and intimate. We had an amazing time. Tough to beat the views. Guide recommended we went earlier (9am) vs our booking of (12 noon). Appreciate the expert opinion as it was extremely hot by noon - amazing experience would highly recommend.

Amazing horse riding experience!! - Our sunset horse ride with Pacific Horses was the best experience! Nicole was super with great communication and directions before our ride! Our guide ‘Gustavo’ was truly incredible.! He had a great sense of who was experienced and supported our daughter to gallop her horse on the beach which was a dream for her! He even filmed it for her! A truly wonderful experience and worth every penny. Thankyou for the wonderful holiday memory and experience with my children🥰

A DREAM experience - Highly highly recommend this experience! Breathtaking views and smooth ride even for beginners (sunset ride was magical) Nicole and other staff were very responsive and helpful with locating meeting spots and any necessary information. Pura Vida at its finest.

Worth every second! 10/10 - We booked our reservation on our last full day in Costa Rica and decided on the 4pm time slot - best decision to catch the sunset! Thank you to Nicole for making communication easy and to our guide, Orlando, for making the experience worthwhile and accommodating. We were paired with 2 beautiful horses, Rambo and Misterio. It was such a great time and would definitely come back! 10/10

Lovely morning horseback ride - My husband and I had so much fun with Laeti. We took the 8AM ride from the W. It was super easy as she came right to the hotel with the horses. The horses were well taken care of and loved. We are animal people, so that is important to us. Laeti was very personable and a great guide. We rode on the beach, up through the nature reserve, and then back on the beach. He saw some monkeys and several birds. My husband is still talking about how much fun he had on his horse. I would definitely recommend Pacific Horses. There are other groups around, but this one seems to have the best reviews and for good reason.

Highly recommend especially if you’re a horse lover!! - I think this might be my favorite ride I’ve done abroad!! Beautiful beach to ride on and our guide took us to open spots where there were only a couple people to let us gallop. We even saw some howler monkeys during the ride. Their horses are well taken care of and well trained, with horses for different experience levels. I felt very safe. I will definitely be back if I find myself in Costa Rica again. Also shoutout to our guide Leticia! She was so friendly and took photos for us while we enjoyed our ride.

Amazing horse riding! - We had an amazing ride with Pacific Horses. It made me appreciate just how beautiful Costa Rica is! The booking process and communication about our ride, what to expect and where to meet was outstanding. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly and even took lots of photos for us! Our family all agrees it was one of the high points of our vacation. I highly recommend!

Not as expected… - My experience today with Pacific Horses in Playa Conchal was very disappointing. I booked this for me, my boyfriend, and his parents. We got there at 3:30 when our scheduled time was at 4. I get a message from Nicole one of the owners about 10 minutes before our ride. It said urgent please call. She thought our ride was for the next day and didn’t have horses for us to ride. I booked this the day prior and got a confirmation email that my payment and time was received. This was very unpleasant that this business messed up my booking. Nicole was able to get us 4 horses but our guide ended up walking since there wasn’t enough horses. Then the horses we got had already been out on a tour before us and had no water or hay offered to them when they got back. The horses were sweating and I felt bad that we got on them for a second time. I’m not sure if they were out for more tours earlier in the day too. However, the beach was beautiful that we rode on and we got to see monkeys which was cool. Another disappointment was our guide on his phone for a majority of the ride. I thought he would tell us more about the nature around us and the horses. Instead he took calls and even stopped and talk to people along the path of the trail. For the majority of the ride I was at the rear end of the line and the guide kept throwing things at the horse I was riding to get him to go faster. The horse was being just fine and the pace at which we were moving was a good pace for the rest of the group. There was no need for him to make the horse go faster by throwing things at him or hitting him with a branch. When we ended the ride it hadn’t even been an hour and a half which is what’s promised in the title of the booking. Worst of all the horses we rode who clearly needed water were sent right back onto the trail with a new group of people. I ride horses and know about caring for them properly. They are huge animals and drink between 5-15 gallons of water in 24 hours. It is so painful to see these horses mistreated in the hot Costa Rican weather. The high was 90 degrees Fahrenheit with 88% of humidity. If you’re looking for a good business that treats their animals well on the trail don’t choose Pacific Horses. Sorry for the long review, but wanted people to know before they choose this business.

Disappointed - This whole thing was a big disappointment from the beginning, the meeting place is not clearly posted. The horses looked tired. And the tour guy spent time on his cellphone almost non stop. We cancelled and went back to the hotel after about 20 minutes into this experience. If the tour guy was a genuine he would explain few things and spend some time interacting with us. Instead we ended up going through the beach full of people and small kids and when he got free from being on the phone he would talk for few minutes to us and then go back to his phone.

Abusive practices - I went on a vacation to Costa Rica and, as a horse lover, I was excited to join a horse tour. Unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable and left me deeply concerned. During the tour, my horse stumbled and fell on me not once, but twice. While I was scraped up, I was fortunately okay. Initially, I assumed it was just an unfortunate accident, but the same horse stumbled again, making me question its fitness for the tour. What made matters worse was the dishonesty of the tour operator. They assured me that the horse would be taken home to be treated and looked at. However, I later saw the same horse being used for the next group of tourists. This not only put other riders at risk but also showed a blatant disregard for the well-being of the horse. To add insult to injury, the operator offered me a tiny refund if I agreed not to post a review online. I find this attempt to silence my concerns both unethical and unacceptable. I am deeply worried about the safety and treatment of the horses used in these tours. It's essential to consider how we spend our money while on vacation and not support practices that we do not want to encourage. For those who care about animal welfare and their own safety, I strongly advise choosing a different tour company.
