  • The Belgian Chocolate Makers - The experience begins with a warm welcome from your chocolate makers and a delicious cup of hot chocolate when the weather is not too hot. During warm sunny days, of course hot chocolate is replaced by a fresh homemade lemonade.
If you have opted for the VIP upgrade, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of Champagne at our booking desk and we will offer you a gorgeous embroidered apron with our logo.

While you drink, listen to a short but fascinating introduction into the world of Belgian chocolate and learn an array of chocolate making secrets.

After the intro, the real fun begins with a demonstration of chocolate tempering on a marble table. It’s then time to have a go yourself and make your own chocolate treats with the help of expert chocolatiers. Spend the hour making your very own personalized and tasty mendiants, truffles and chocolate bars. We only use cacao from our plantations located in Philippines, Congo and Haiti. 100% no deforestation and traceable. No child work. Premiums paid to farmers.

At the end of the experience, package up your chocolates and take them home with you to share with friends, or enjoy alone!

Amazing tasty experience - I booked this class for my wife, 2 children (11 and 13) and I, we had a great time. We were warmly welcomed, issued wristbands and hairnets for cleanliness, then into the workshop to begin. We had paid for the VIP upgrade, which I thoroughly recommend, so we had a welcome glass of champagne and were given our aprons, which we could keep. Then we started the class proper, a mixture of: information, hands-on and tastings (lots of tastings!). We tried chocolate along its various stages from bean to finished product. We made our own chocolate bars, florentines and truffles, all with the option to make them personalised to yourself. The whole experience was really interesting and we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Brussels. We even enjoyed the trip to the gift shop next door, where we were treated to a Belgian hot chocolate.

Great experience - Patricia was our leader and this is her business. She taught us about the various types of cacao as well as the history of chocolate candy. We poured and decorated some pieces that we took with us. The chocolate was already tempered so this is a very basic class. I was hoping for more advanced knowledge but this was overall a very enjoyable time. Patricia was very kind and patient. We were a group of 3 and purchased the package with the champagne and apron - so worth it. Highly recommend this especially during the off season.

Fantastic chocolate making experience - This is a definite must do whilst in Brussels. Our family of three had a great time learning all about the chocolate making process. We made individual bars (one each), truffles (five each) and the opportunity to freestyle our own designs (love hearts, large buttons, etc), all finished from a great choice of toppings. Our instructor (Elisabetta I think, apologies if that is incorrect) was great! The place was absolutely spotless too. Once finished you get the chance to pop in next door to the shop where there is an amazing choice of yummy chocolate goodies. Thank you to everyone for a great experience.

Great time, both my teens enjoyed it too! - Traveling with my 19 yo son and 15yo daughter. We had a great time. Easy to find, parking garage a hundred yards from the door. Very nice people and just enough time to enjoy it. Had a bag of yummy treats to take home.

Good, but not great - you don't actually temper the chocolate; but you do get lots of chocolate to take home. - This was a good experience, but not a great experience - but that I mean it is not a must do. When you think Brussels you think chocolate, and what better way to experience this incredible city that to make your own chocolate....well that is not exactly what you are going to do on this tour, nor most of them. They give you the chocolate already melted and warm. All you are doing it putting it into molds - after hearing about the history of chocolate, and putting your toppings on. Now, you are going to go home with a good amount of chocolate, so know that you will have chocolate to eat for a few days :) They do give you some samples of the cocoa so you know what the chocolate taste like in raw format. But they have done all the work to process it down for you. Which for us was a little bit of a disappointment, as we can buy chocolate wafers at home and melt them down to make chocolate bars. We wanted the experience of tempering the chocolate. Listening to the other participants as they were leaving, a few said had they of known what it was they wouldn't have participated. So hopefully this review will help you make the decision if this experience is right for you and your family.

Wouldn’t recommend - The class was ok. The samples we were given to try were minimal. Someone was talking to their partner at one point and Patricia got really annoyed and shouted at them, and in her rage knocked over a bowl of nuts onto the floor. This changed the whole class and made it very awkward and unnerving. She did try to talk to them a bit more after this as to make up with them, but it did make the whole experience very awkward. We also had to share bowls, ingredients with people we’d not met which was a bit awkward waiting for them to finish with the utensils whilst you watched them. We went to a waffle making class the day after and had a much more enjoyable experience and at half the price and we had all our own ingredients and utensils with pleasant teachers!

Factory not willing to adhere to timings of 5 pm on 25th Jan 24. Hence no tour. Request Refund. - One of thee officials fro Viator Tour trip at Brussels, Belgium on 25th January 2024 This visit was planned and ticket taken through Viator for 5 pm. At about 10.30 am at Berlin Airport when I was to board my flight (SN2582 at 11.55 am) to Brussels, a call came from +3222039220 from the chocolate factory to come and visit at 2 pm and they cannot keep open the factory at 5 pm. I told them that the flight arrives at 13.20 to Brussels airport and hence may not be convenient to visit the factory at 2 pm and whether they can arrange by 3 pm – they informed that they would consult management and will advise me. I contacted them after reaching Brussels at 13.50 and informed that I will be staying at Hotel Alma Grand Place which is 700 metres from their factory. The lady on the phone said whether I can come the next day and I told her I am leaving by the early morning flight to Frankfurt. Again they said they would get in touch with me after speaking to the management and also told that they would contact me. Nothing happened afterwards. The visit to Chocolate factory booked through Viator with following details did not materialize and in spite of my efforts: Booking ref.: BR-1086923577 Tour operator: The Belgian Chocolate Makers SRL Tour operator product code: 642970 Tour operator option code: r1205445 Tour operator confirmation no: VIA-35814020 Thu, Jan 25, 2024, 5:00 PM English – Guide Request Refund.
