Communist city tour - It was absolutely amazing! If we come back, we will definitely book it again. Our tour guide Balázs was super personable, friendly, funny and extremely competent. In addition to the general information, he also told us about his personal experiences, which made the past even more personal. We have already recommended it to friends and acquaintances.

Great tour - We loved our tour and had a great guide. My husband drove the Trabant for a little ways, also. We would definitely recommend the tour.

Two Trabant Self-Drive City Tour - Hired two vintage Trabant cars for me and my family to sightsee around Budapest. The cars were delivered to our hotel, arriving a good twenty minutes ahead of schedule. My son drove one car and I drove the other. My daughter did the navigating (with me) and my wife and other son kept big son company in his car. The cars were great fun to drive and, despite what we’d heard about local drivers, we all thought the locals were tolerant and courteous towards us. We hired the cars on the morning of our first full day in Budapest and it was a great way to orientate ourselves and see all the main sights. The two hours pasted by ever so quickly. I’m sure the guided tours, complete with driver, are good but we’d all recommend the self-drive option, driving the Trabant was as much fun as the sightseeing. Definitely do again.

This is a "must do" - This is a must for petrol heads and non-petrol heads alike. There is something for everyone on this tour. If you like cars, you can drive around in a piece of history. If you aren't into cars, then you get to sightsee in a very intimate manner. If you are into being silly with friends, there's nothing more frivolous than cruising through town in an old two-stroke car. The tour took us through town and into areas we wouldn't have gone otherwise, such as Memento Park and some of the older residential areas. And the cars turn heads wherever they go. We stopped for water at a gas station, and the folks behind the counter commented on the cars. The downside is that the cars are pretty small. My 16 yo son and I went in one car, and my wife had to go in another simply because we wouldn't all be comfortable in one. Not a show stopper but just something to remember when planning the trip.

Go Trabant Go. What a buzz . - This was one of the best tours I have ever participated in. With a petrol head phsycie and interest in anything different in yrav options, I found this one to be one of my favorites. A four hour tour of life behind the iron curtain. Picked up in a Tabant and drove for 30 odd kilometers to a privately owned memorial site of the Hungarian experience under communist rule. A chance to drive a Trabant the back to the Pest side for another museum of 50s and 60s memorabilia from the Communist Era.

The best guided tour ever - Very authentic way of experiencing Budapest with and excellent guide. I recommend to start your stay in Budapest with this tour so you know what to experience further afterwards. Driving the Trabi was extremely fun and you felt like being back in communist days in a bad movie. Don’t miss out in this trip

Academic-calibre tour guide narrates a drive through recent history - Having grown up in the 90s and spent many years studying German language and history, the Eastern bloc became a bit of an obsession of mine. Being American, the opportunities to learn about this part of the world and its history through direct exposure were more limited. I requested a Trabant tour focused on the Soviet era of Budapest's recent past with Go Trabi Go Budapest, and it was easily the best tour I've ever taken. My spouse and I are PhD scientists who visit Budapest a few times a year for work, so we were somewhat familiar with the common attractions. I requested that we focus on something a bit more "offbeat," and the academic level of this tour surpassed my expectations. The guide, Beata Pecsi, was clearly an expert in this part of history and was even willing to share her and her family's personal experiences during the socialist era. At first we thought the price of the tour was a bit steep for central/eastern Europe, but after the experience, I think they could have charged more for the expertise and quality they provided. I would recommend this company and our guides (Beata and Fola) specifically to anyone with a sense of adventure and curiosity about this era. The tour was excellent, the Trabi was great fun, and the information was relevant, interesting, in-depth and personalized. Minor comments: There was occasional difficulty with the radio, but turning it off and on again seemed to work Driving a Trabant requires familiarity with stick shift, and even then, it doesn't translate perfectly. We had great fun doing this, but I would warn someone who has not driven stick shift that it will be confusing and you will probably stall (as we did).

An authentic & memorable experience! - Rather than get lost driving ourselves, my wife & I were chauffered all around Budapest for 2 hours by our driver Cindy. A truly vintage experience in a proper mechanical car - a highly recommended way to feel the roads and allow your imagination to wander back to the old days. Also you must watch Go Trabi Go (1991) the movie on You Tube - very good!

Great private tour - We had a private tour via Go Trabi, was 3hrs but 5 is recommended & tbh would have easily filled that time. Took us to off the main routes to see additional sights, lots of info & easy chat. Car was fab! Would like to Memento Park next time in one. So much recent history in this city.
