Discover the significant events of Hungary’s 1956 Uprising and revolution, the first major and unyielding anti-communist movement after WWII.

  • Szabadsag ter - Wander through Liberty Square (Szabadság tér), Pest’s most charming public space, home to the impressive Stock Exchange Palace and other classic buildings. Admire the remarkable structures that have seen better days, including the Hungarian National Bank and the American Embassy, along with other Art Nouveau style facades in Budapest, like the Postal Savings Bank. Observe the last remaining Soviet monument and the monument of the German occupation.

Established in the late 19th century it gained new prominence as the second capital of the newly-created Austro-Hungarian Empire. Signs of that momentous 19th-century rise are everywhere to be found on this Budapest walking tour.

Get introduced to a wide range of local grape varieties, such as Bikavér, Kadarka , Olaszrizling and Furmint which are major players in Hungarian wine. We also focus on featuring lesser-known varieties and wines from small, family-run wineries that you won’t find in larger chain stores or supermarkets.
