A Talented tour guide and lovely tour! - We met Anna just outside our hotel (Intercontinental). She had been inside looking for us. We finally connected and began the tour. She spoke English beautifully with a perfect command of the language. When the tour is labled private, that's exactly what they mean. The only people there were myself, my wife and Anna! It felt like we walked all over Pest, but we stopped frequently whenever we wanted. As my wife and I are in our late 70's, this was more frequent then she was probably used to. To her credit, the pace was perfect for all. Her knowledge was Encyclopedic. Any detail we pointed out or questioned was responded to quickly with loads of facts. We stopped for coffee at a small cafe and enjoyed the break. We saw three synagogues (there are over 20 in Budapest), by far the most impressive was the Dohany Synagogue (or the Grand Synagogue). The admission fees are not included in the tour. Do not fail to see the interior of this beautiful temple, it is worth every penny. Anna is a wonderful and talented host.

Wonderful, informative tour! - Wonderful experience! Kata was our guide and she was terrific. She gave us so much information about the history of theJewish community, including personal experiences from her family. She was able to pace the tour to fit our needs. We were very happy that we chose this tour. And it’s worth adding the shoes on the Danube!

Professor of Private Tours - Truly Rich History! - I am grateful to have met the Fungarian my first day arriving in Budapest. His guidance on the metro and city was excellent for exploring on my own for the duration of my trip. The in-depth education on the Jewish history truly rounded out the richness and complexity of Hungary and Budapest's development. If people are unaware of the impact from the Jewish community, they are truly missing the full story. The Fungarian is an excellent teacher!

Excellent informative and interesting - Excellent, informative well rounded. Miklòs has extensive knowledge of and feeling for the Jewish history of Budapest. It was neither narrow nor linear but added contextual cultural artistic and contemporary political material into a tour of the essential sites of this once great community. Though tragically obliterated Miklòs brought a lost world back to life for us. P&D

An Essential Tour of the Jewish Quarter with a Great Educator - We had Miklos (Fungarian) as our private guide and he was really great in sharing lots of information and experience. I really appreciated the first question he asked us which was why we wanted to do this tour (we are non-Jewish). I loved how he wove the history of the Jewish people in Hungary as distinct from elsewhere. We visited the three synagogues, each with different architecture and serving a different Jewish branch or sect, all the while explaining these differences. It was an incredibly moving tour passing the Carl Lutz Memorial, passing Herzl Square, visiting the Cemetery and stopping at the Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park where the names of those Jews executed are recorded on the metal leaves of the Weeping Willow orTree of Life (also learning that well known Hungarian Jewish people such as Tony Curtis and Estee Lauder have contributed to the quarter and its creation). As well, there is a memorial to Wallenberg and other Righteous Among the Nations. The whole experience is a wake-up call in these turbulent times. We finished the tour at a nearby cafe where we had the chance to discuss the situation in Israel with Miklos. A wonderful guide (and retired educator) who gave us a warm welcome and many insights, including a take-away Hungarian Jewish History summary which I really appreciated.
