  • Elizabeth Square - We will meet in front of TERMINAL CLUB a few minutes before the start time. As we head towards the Basilica, I will briefly discuss its history and its connection to Hungarian history and language, sharing some intriguing facts about the Hungarian language.
  • Deak Ferenc Square - Here, I will explain the public transportation system, the districts, the layout of the Party district, and point out the Airport Bus pick-up and drop-off points.
  • Madach Imre Ter - At this stop, I will talk about the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Royal couple, and introduce you to Chimney Cake.
  • The Tree of Life - This stop will focus on the Jewish district, especially during the World War II era.
  • Great / Central Synagogue (Nagy Zsinagoga) - I will share some fascinating details about the Synagogue at this stop.
  • Corvinus Cafe Dohany - Our first stop at one of the retro bars on this street, where I will serve the first included beer, giving the group a chance to socialize. I will also briefly discuss the Hungarian Communist era.
  • Dob Street - We will walk along the small ring road and stop here to share some fascinating details about the buildings and briefly discuss street art.
  • UdvarROM - Our second pub stop, where we will spend more time for open discussions. You will have the opportunity to taste a Hungarian National shot and a specialty beer. I will talk about the story of this Hungarian spirit and explain the origins and reasons behind the Ruin Pub scene in Budapest.
  • Szimpla Kert - Our final stop, where I will guide you through the building, known as the most famous Ruin Pub in the district. The place is unique, and I assure you it will be unlike anything you’ve seen before. I will highlight the various themed rooms and have a surprise activity planned for the end.

Excellent introduction to Budapest's culture, history, nightlife, and food - A group of us arranged for the Ruin Pub Walking tour with Jeanette the night of our arrival as we had never been to Budapest before. What an ideal way to become familiarized with a new city! Jeanette is professional, witty, kind and knows so many details about her city (architecture, history, public transportation, popular events, food, culture). Her English is excellent. After our Walking Tour, which took us to a few unique pubs, Jeanette recommended a wonderful nearby restaurant with traditional Hungarian food which I'm sure we never would have considered without her help. I highly recommend Jeanette as a guide in Budapest.
