Additional Information

Strudel, a customary dessert from the Habsburg Empire, is thought to have originated from Turkish influences in Hungary. It is a fundamental component of rural wedding feasts. I utilize my mother’s procedure for the hand-stretched version. The Strudel dough is supple, extremely thin and hand-stretched. We create both sweet and savory Strudels. In my hometown, typical fillings included poppy-seed with pumpkin, sweet or savory cabbage, and sweet cottage cheese cream. You now have the opportunity to craft these Strudels at my exclusive baking class. I invite you to become a part of my gastronomic journey, discover my familial secrets, and savor the fruits of your labor at the conclusion of the course.

Amazing experience - This was an amazing experience! Marti was so patient and informative as she taught us how to make strudel from scratch. It was a fun and relaxing experience with tasty snacks along with special drinks. And the best part of all was learning how to stretch dough into a gigantic sheet across the table and add the ingredients roll up and bake. Even better we get To eat our creation. I highly recommend this as an activity when you were in Budapest. You will not regret it! It might be the highlight of our trip. Thank you, Marti!!

Authentic Strudel and Teacher - When traveling to a new place it is always fun to experience the culture authentically by someone who is an expert. This is the activity to get a taste of true Hungry. Marty the host was very welcoming, patient and informative. You can hear the joy in her voice and words as she instructs you on the art of making strudel and shares her history with it. This is hands on and everyone gets to participate. While, I have had strudel previously -- I did not know a lot about how it is made. When I saw pictures of the dough stretched to it's limit -- I wanted to see that first hand. The experience from start to finish was amazing. It is for all ages. The strudel was outstanding! Don't think twice -- just sign up! You won't be disappointed.

My Hungarian Highlight - I remember my Hungarian grandmother making strudel and hand stretching the dough as a young child. I wanted to relive that experience since she is no longer here to teach me herself. This was a wonderful class with Marti that our family was able to participate in and enjoy. The strudel making experience brought back so many memories which I can now share at home.

Great Strudel Class - Apologies for how long this took me to write! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Budapest in Dec 2023. I scheduled the class on my birthday as a treat. The other couple unfortunately had to cancel but Marti still hosted the class because of my birthday! That was very nice and much appreciated Marti. We choose the sour cherry and cabbage strudel to make. It was so much fun making it and the food was very good. We both loved the cabbage the best. My husband does not bake but after was so excited to try it at home! Thank you very much for an awesome class! We would definitely recommend the class to those interested.

Strudel Making Fun - Our host Marti communicated well providing directions and information ahead. Our group of six included spouses. Marti greeted us with lovely drinks, was gracious, organized, efficient, and so very kind. Her apartment & kitchen were large, immaculate, comfortable, and specifically designed for these classes. She walked us through every step, told stories of cooking with her mom, and insisted we all engage in hands-on involvement. While our creations cooked Marti provided a delicious charcuterie board and wine. It was fun, we learned, and the end products were delicious.....even the husbands enjoyed themselves! Marti sent the recipe to us later....she is the ultimate gracious host and an expert in hospitality! We highly recommend to anyone visiting Budapest....well worth your time!! Thank you Marti!
