The Carlos Gardel Show at a historic Theatre. Fabulous, Do not Miss It - Friends of mine are performing in this gorgeous tango show. We did not go for dinner, but arrived before the 10:00pm show. Our admission was comped, but we also received a coupon for 50% off drinks and desserts. Internet coupons and discounts are available for many shows in BsAs if you google them. Last year I got a coupon for a show at this theatre for a $27 ticket. There are two theaters in this venue. One is more beautiful than the other. They are small, intimate, laden with gold ornamentation, with tiny boxes on the second level. It is like a theatre in a fairy tale. The orchestra is raised above the stage behind an ornate gold carved balcony. There was a piano, bass, one or two bandoneons (Argentine accordions) and two female violinists. Amazing music Carlos Gardel was the most popular singer In The World in the 1930s. I believe he mostly sang tango songs. There was a cast of10 tango dancers that danced in group numbers and solos, with iterations of the many forms of tango. A great tango singer (cantate?) sang 5 or 6 songs, and a female soloist sang a few also. You do not have to understand tango to enjoy this show. The drinks and desserts were great. My friends are tango champions, but the other dancers in the show were almost as good. You won't be able to tell the difference. I recommend both shows at the Piazzolla Theatre. This theatre is hard to find. There is one entrance on Florida that opens up to an indoor Galleria of different shops. There are usually doormen or guards around to point you to the box office.

Be careful what you book for! - I booked tickets online via TripAdvisor to the Theatre Piazzola in Buenos Aries. I had never heard of Carlos Gardel, but have a passion for the music of Piazzola. Seems I booked for the Carlos Gardel show and dinner. Both theatres are in the same complex, opposite each other. When we were shown into the Carlos Gardel theatre, I asked why we were there? After expressing my dismay at not being booked into the Piazzola show, the staff took pity on us and found seats in the opposite theatre for the Piazzola Tango Show and Dinner. We had a wonderful evening! The meal was excellent and the dancing, singing and music was professional and amazing. I was so happy!! Thank you to the staff for facilitating this. Be careful booking with TripAdvisor for this show, as the difference between the 2 venues is not explained at all!
