Ukhum - Take an easy hike from Asraf to another Nuratau Mountain village, Eski Forish (a round trip of 11 km/5 hours). On the way, visit the ruins of a medieval observation point. Return to Asraf village, and after lunch, depart for Samarkand.

Hightly recommended: our tour guide Sardor - If you are looking for off-the-beaten road, Nature and village people. Here is right for you! You can see lots of people describing the tour itself. Most importantly, the main reason why I would like to write the comments is our tour guide Sardor. He must be one of the most important highlight during our tour. He is genuine like a friend, taking care of us trying his best and knowledgeable to explain all the things we ask, patient focusing in what you said and humerus always laughing with us in the mountains. Our laughing sound echoes circling around the valley. This is my most impressive memory in the tour. The scenery is definitely fantastic difference from any place in Uzbekistan. The tour guide/friend who keep company with you is the most important we think! Many thank! Hope see you soon, Sardor!

Fantastic hike in the mountain - This tour is nothing short of spectacular! The journey took us through breathtaking natural landscapes and immerses us in the remnants of the Stone Age. More than just sightseeing, it’s a cultural immersion: we experience life in local guesthouses, get to know the residents, and savor the flavors of authentic local cuisine. The warm hospitality we received is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the trip. The organization of the tour is top-notch. Our guide, Alibeg, is proficient in English, ensuring smooth communication. His knowledge about the history of the place is enlightening. The hiking is perfectly paced - each day’s hike leaves us feeling invigorated rather than worn out. Plus, the changing vistas of the countryside ensure there’s no room for monotony. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough!

Wonderful time in the mountains - The trip was extremely well organised, and our guide, the driver and the hosts in the guesthouses were very nice and helpful. We got a great insight in the way of people's lives in the valleys, in the amazing variety of nature and also in ancient culture (we took a glimpse at the stoneages). Alibek, our guide, made sure that we felt comfortable while hiking, we learned a lot from him about the history and the surroundings, and the food in the guest houses was delicious. We are vegetarians and the dishes provided were much better for vegetarians than in the cities. Thank you so much for giving these wonderful four days to us!

Feel truly welcomed in rural Uzbekistan - The communication with Responsible Travel before the trip was very easy and constructive. They adjusted the multi-day hike to a 3-day trip so that it fit our itinerary. The trip itself was great, everything worked smoothly from pickup, to the guided hike to the drop-off. When we got hungry along the drive, the driver brought us to a restaurant in his hometown on the way which resulted in one of the best meals in our whole trip (delicious Samsa in Jizzach). The hike with our competent and funny English speaking guide Sardor was great. We saw and learned a lot and felt welcome and safe at all times. The two homestays we stayed at were a highlight of our Uzbekistan trip. Super welcoming families with commnicative kids who genuinely enjoyed spending some time with us. We played some games, made a drawing and just had a good time. I would recommend this trip to everyone with modest fitness and interest in learning about rural life.

Thanks Alibek for an unforgettable experience - 5 stars – an excellent and varied experience in an unexpectedly beautiful environment – we've never been anywhere quite like it with the contrast between arid mountains and lush river valleys teeming with beautiful flora and fauna. There was not much communication in advance from organiser (although they did answer our queries promptly) but everything worked like clockwork so that was fine. Some places charged for water which was little but not expected, so might be useful to include this info in the posting. Also, most places did not have soap at hand washing stations which should be remedied. We found that all the guesthouses accommodated diatery preferences well and the food was fantastic and varied (our guide called ahead to ensure we didn't have the same option twice!). Most of all hats off to our fantastic guide, Alibek, who had good English, was friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about history, flora and fauna, and an inspiring protector of the natural heritage of this very special part of the world. Another guest who had booked through a different company didn't have such a good guide, so we felt lucky to be with Ali! The trails were generally clean but at times there was litter, apparently the local Uzbek tourists are responsible for most of it, which was a shame – hopefully the tour organisers, community and local government can keep this in check so that the landscape is properly preserved for future generations.

Unforgettable Nuratau Village trek and homestay - I have just returned from one of the best trips of my life! Uzbekistan is a very safe country to travel and very simple for anyone who wishes to travel alone. I did a total of two weeks, with a three-day hike/family homestay in the Nuratau region and an additional day with a yurt stay and desert trek, arranged and accompanied by Sherali of responsible travel. Every was extremely smooth and well organised. The registration online and any information I asked for beforehand was quickly provided by e-mail. Sherali was always punctual, extremely welcoming and fumm of stories to help me feel totally immersed in local life. The treks were adapted to whatever vibe I was into on any particular day, and time was allowed to discover the village way of life. There is no downside to any aspect of my trip and I fully recommend responsible travel for any of your needs on a tour! You will not be disappointed and your memories will last forever. 6 days hiking in Nuratau, 3 days trekking in Chimgan - We spend 6 days hiking in Nuratau Mountains (hiking tour to Hayat, Uhum and Asraf villages, yurt stay and Lake Aydarkul) and did a 3 days trekking tour in Chimgan Mountains in september 2022. Both trips were great and very well organized. As well as very different, we saw a lot of typical scenery and had a good impression of the life in the mountains. Always really good food, great quality and traditional dishes. Thanks a lot to our guides Nuriddin and Barlan and of course to our donkeys in Chimgan Mountains. All of them did a great job in difficult conditions! The price was really reasonable for this quality of individual trekking tour! We warmly recommand Responsible Travel for his trekking and hinking tours in the Mountains of Uzbekistan.

great off-season adventure - Thanks to Sherzod we were able to organise the trip last minute. He was very responsive, helpful and arranged everything for us. Our guide Sherali spoke english very well and told us a lot about the culture, people and the history of the villages. He was incredibly flexible and went above and beyond to make our trip special. We had a great time going exploring Nurata mountains, staying at the homestays and even had a chance to view the game of kupkari. We were very lucky to spend our time in his company, we've seen and learnt a lot about the place and are very grateful for his kindness and professionalism!
