- セントラル２１ビル - A former tea farmer who has grown tea for 6 years in Kyoto tells you about the fun and depth of Japanese tea.
You can enjoy 5 types of Japanese tea: matcha, sencha (green tea), hoji-cha (roasted green tea), brown rice tea, and Japanese black tea.
In addition to how to use Japanese tea and how to enjoy it, you will enjoy tea’s history and cultivation methods.
- Gather and head to the place of experience.
- Enjoy the welcome drink. We will serve welcome drink (cold brewed sencha). While having welcome drink, we explain about Japanese tea that you enjoy today.
- Comparison of Sencha, Brown Rice Tea, and Hojicha. We serve 3 types of Japanese tea in the best way to make the deliciousness of tea. After you look at the color and shape of the tea leaves, we will make tea and serve it, so please enjoy the color, fragrance, and taste.
- Enjoy Japanese black tea and homemade sweets. We selected the Japanese black tea that goes well with sweets.
- Matcha ceremony experience. Finally, make Ousucha (matcha) using a bamboo tea whisk.
Once you’ve completed your experience, you’ll still be able to make matcha at home.

Additional Information
Learn about the cultivation methods and history of tea, a traditional Japanese drink.
The main instructor has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science and has a particularly deep knowledge of soil science. He is a former tea farmer who was involved in everything from tea cultivation to processing in Kyoto. The assistant has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and is a practicing pharmacist.
You can enjoy multiple types of Japanese tea in small portions at once. With a wide variety of tea flavors and aromas, you are sure to find your favorite.

I started to love tea - I learned that the temperature of the water and the steeping time differ depending on the tea leaves.
I was impressed that the same tea leaves can be delicious when brewed at the right temperature and time.
Personally, I really liked Japanese black tea. It was refreshing and went perfectly with sweets.

Life changing tea experience. - This tea tasting was so amazing. Chisei knew everything about green tea and we learned so much. He was so sweet and detailed about everything. The green tea was so delicious and uplifting. His wife also made us cookies! I highly recommend.

Learnt a lot and tasted a lot of tea - This was amazing! I already knew that there existed different green teas which are based on the same leaves.
Chisei, a very friendly and knowledgeable ex tea farmer could show me the different types of cultivation and processing of the leaves and I could taste the different teas and matcha throughout the experience.
I learnt a lot and drank a lot of interesting teas. I would definitely book it again!

Amazing experience to taste tea and learn about the drink - Chisei is a friendly and knowledgeable host who does a great job. The experience featured multiple Japanese teas, a welcome drink, homemade wagashi (Japanese pastry), and an overview on how tea is harvested and prepared.
I recommend this to anyone who is seeking an intimate cultural experience while also trying different types of tea. Any level of tea knowledge is acceptable.
Chisei is extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions. He even has a website to ship some of the teas abroad once individuals finish the experience.

A new tea experience - I participated hoping to have a truly Japanese experience.
First, they served me cold-brewed Japanese black tea, which smelled like Belgian wine and was very delicious.
They also explained the other four types of tea using handouts, which made it very easy to understand.
The contrast of the tea poured into the shot glasses was beautiful and made me feel very happy.
Of course, the tea was delicious.

Rediscover the charm of Japanese tea - It was my first time experiencing matcha, and I was impressed with how carefully I was taught.
Mr. Tanaka, who taught me, used to be involved in cultivating Uji matcha, and he explained the differences in cultivation methods in detail.
It was a good opportunity to discover a different charm to the Japanese tea I usually drink. I would like to participate in other experiences in the future.

Studying tea - I decided to participate because I've recently become interested in drinking tea.
I knew the names of genmaicha, hojicha, sencha, and black tea, but I had no idea what the differences in their definitions were, and they explained that to me in a very detailed way.
I'm looking forward to drinking the Japanese black tea I bought at home!

It was a memorable family trip! - I came to Tokyo on a trip with my family and we had the chance to try Japanese tea!
Although I have a small daughter, we were able to relax and enjoy the aroma and taste of Japanese tea while listening to a talk about Japanese tea without any hesitation in the quiet store.
I'd definitely like to bring my daughter back here again when she's older!

Tea Experience - Until now, I'd always poured tea with boiling water, but I never imagined that the brewing method could change the taste of tea so much.
The genmaicha and hojicha tea had a beautiful aroma and were delicious.
The owner, a former Uji tea farmer, is very knowledgeable about tea and answered all of my questions.
I bought some tea to take home so I could try brewing some delicious tea myself!
