  • Byron Bay - Humpback Whales are seen along the coast between Ballina and Cape Byron. Where we visit is dependant on where the whales are. Our Marine Biologist guide will provide fascinating commentary as you take in the breathtaking views and whale encounters. It is also likely to spot other marine and bird life during the tour, such as our resident pods of dolphins. We are so sure you will spot a whale that we offer a whale guarantee, or return for a free trip!

Please meet on the Lance Ferris Wharf directly in front of the Wharf Bar & Restaurant, 12-24 Fawcett St, Ballina (if Brunswick Heads is closer for you, please select our other Whale Watching listing departing from Brunswick Heads). Someone will come to collect you and take you down to the vessel where lifejackets & waterproof ponchos will be supplied.
We will conduct a short safety briefing before we travel briefly along Ballina’s Richmond River and head out into the Cape Byron Marine Park on our Premier Whale Watching adventure.

Witness the awe-inspiring Humpback Whales in their natural surroundings as they maneuver past the spectacular coastline from Byron Bay to Ballina. Revel in the captivating landscape while tuning into live Humpback Whale melodies using our specialized underwater hydrophone. Our cordial Marine Biologist will impart detailed insights about the area, local landmarks & sightings we encounter within Byron’s Marine Park.The crossing of whales is an incredible spectacle & an engaging event to behold as they play & leap. Spanning more than 2,500-kms, this is regarded as one of the farthest journeys in the animal kingdom.

Don’t miss this experience!! - Fantastic cruise so many whales!! The skipper was brilliant as was the marine biologist Mas her knowledge was invaluable as we witnessed so many exciting breaches of these beautiful creatures. Coming back into the river mouth was smooth and demonstrated clearly the skippers experience. Thanks for making memories today

Highly recommended whale watching experience - We had a fantastic trip! From the seating and ponchos provided, to the expert sailing and live marine biologist commentary, it was a wonderful experience. That were many whales to see and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended.

It’s alway spectacular! - Another fabulous adventure! We saw so many beautiful whales doing their thing , they really put on a show for us . Every time we go on an Out of the Blue adventure it’s different and each time it’s spectacular and very informative.

WOW - WOW. What a day, incredible experience seeing the whales up close. A great boat with fantastic skipper Angus that gets you up close to the whales along with a very knowledgeable guide (sorry I can’t remember her name) makes this a must do at Cape Byron. Photographs just don’t do the experience justice. In the area get this booked, 2 hours of non stop whale watching.

Awesome experience….so many whales! - The views were amazing! There were whales everywhere and they even interacted with the boat. Feeling very privileged to have had such an amazing experience. Emily and Angus were the ultimate hosts, impressive knowledge with Emily providing us with detailed information about the whales along the way felt very safe with Angus at the helm too!!

Out of the blue whale adventure - This is our second time aboard the whale boat and it was just as exceptional as the first Thanks to Dean the pilot for getting us out there and back safely and thank you Gabriel for your information on whales 🐋 I highly recommend that its definately a bucket list of to do's and a few more times 2 awsome day 👌🐳

We had a whale of a time! - What an incredible and fun experience we had from the initial enjoyment of the boat ride to seeing a multitude of whales. Also seeing the Dolphins was an extra special treat. For those sceptical as to whether you will see any whales or not, the crew on board are very knowledgeable and ensured we seen as many whales on our trip as possible - would highly recommend to all! Thanks again for the experience and memories!
