All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt.

The site is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo.

The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they have historically been common as emblems of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. They were popularised in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.

  • Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman; diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been found but the site has not been excavated.[4][5] The valley temple was connected to a causeway which was largely destroyed when the village was constructed.
  • Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre. Several were found in a well in the floor of the temple by Mariette in 1860. Others were found during successive excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, Reisner,
  • Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added on to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also yielded several statues of Menkaure.
  • Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx of Giza or just the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Facing directly from West to East, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre.

Cut from the bedrock, the original shape of the Sphinx has been restored with layers of blocks. It measures 73 m (240 ft) long from paw to tail, 20 m (66 ft) high from the base to the top of the head and 19 m (62 ft) wide at its rear haunches. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the pharaoh Khafre (c. 2558–2532 BC).

  • Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Then Continue your day tour to Sakkara, located only 27 km southwest away from Cairo. • Pyramid of Unas - The pyramid of Unas (Egyptian: Nfr swt Wnjs “Beautiful are the places of Unas”) is a smooth-sided pyramid built in the 24th century BC for the Egyptian pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty.[9][a] It is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid, but significant due to the discovery of Pyramid Texts, spells for the king’s afterlife incised into the walls of its subterranean chambers. Inscribed for the first time in Unas’s pyramid, the tradition of funerary texts carried on in the pyramids of subsequent rulers, through to the end of the Old Kingdom, and into the Middle Kingdom through the Coffin Texts that form the basis of the Book of the Dead.

  • Pyramid of Teti - The Pyramid of Teti, located in Saqqara, Egypt, is a captivating ancient structure built as the final resting place for Pharaoh Teti. Standing as a testament to the ingenuity and architectural prowess of the Old Kingdom, this pyramid attracts visitors from around the world with its impressive size and historical significance. • Mastaba of Ti - The Mastaba of Ti is one of the most important archaeological sites of Saqqara. The mastaba was discovered by Auguste Mariette.

The mastaba contains two serdabs. The walls of the tomb show various scenes of everyday life.

Best Tour in Cairo - I did this your 2 years ago on a girls trip with guide Tonsi and it was so good I had to bring my children to experience it. This was a great experience. Our tour guide Muhammad was equally as Amazing and Knowledgeable. Our pickup location was so confusing but this man walked the streets until he found us ensuring we would not miss the tour. The tour itself was such an experience, seeing the pyramids, riding camels, tasting local foods and drinks. Our tour guide advocated for fair pricing on everything we bought along the way. He was so knowledgeable of Everything from history of Egypt to local fashions and everything else you can think of. Our driver and tour guide were like family by the end of the day and even took us to the airport. We had a 7 year old Babygirl with us and our Egypt family made sure we were all safe and so happy. Highly recommended!!!! Thanks Muhammad for making sure our experience was unforgettable.

Wonderful, exhilarating 20 hours stopover in Cairo! Salam Aleikum! - Osama is an avid historian who knows his history. He was super friendly and took me to a tour of the Giza pyramids. I was impressed with his depth of knowledge, he also took me to the papyrus shops, spices, perfume and cloth shopping. My experience was wonderful. Hamed the driver was the coolest cat in town, he even shared his home made cookies, baked by his wife and was so delicious! ( this is not part the package- so do not put pressure on him to provide cookies). The shopping experience was wonderful, I was given cold drinks everywhere I went. The lunch was delicious (part of the package). Im definately coming back for a longer time with my family.

Great tour with a great guide - Our guide Hosam was really informative and helpful during our tour. We were given really great importance every step of the tour. During the day we were given around 3 bottles of cold water per person, which was appreciated. A car and a guide is essential during hot weather days. Saqqara and memphis visits are a must for anyone. We were skeptical that tour guide's english would be a problem but we fully understood all details.

Best ever tour guide and excursion! - This is one of the most educational, friendly, courteous, professional and safe trip I have encountered during a tour. From our knowledgeable tour guide Osama with 21 years experience, if you are a history buff, request him as your tour guide. He took care of my elderly mom which was greatly appreciated and captured great memories. Ibrahim was the driver who provided excellent service as well. Both went above and beyond to make our trip most enjoyable. Make sure to choose Emo tours and request Osama and Ibrahim as your guide. You will enjoy your time immensely.

Good but.. - Good experience the private car and the fact that you have a driver and a guide. BUT they are committed ti scams. They take you to shops and try to trick you for tgeir commission. This is not about the specific activity but is something all over the tourist narket.

Amazing history, but ruined in part by constant pitches for more money - The pyramids themselves are incredible. Amazing opportunity. However, our guide rushed us through the pyramids only to take us to other sites that we did not want to include. He gave us 5 minutes (literally) at sites like the Sphinx and Saqqara, only to take take us to a papyrus shop where he and one of the managers pressured us for nearly an hour to buy papyrus that we had no interest in buying. He then took us an “Egyptian cotton” shop, which was hardly a quality operation - bunch of it was knock-off imitation of luxury brands (e.g. Gucci products that were clearly not authentic Gucci). He wanted to take us to another store (aromatherapy), but we insisted that we had no interest. All in all, we probably spent 90 minutes touring pyramids of what was supposed to be a six hour tour. The vast majority of the time was either driving (which is fine - there is obviously a distance between the three sites) or spent at these side hustles that were of no interest to us. He was also very blatant about pressuring us for a tip. I planned to tip him and the driver well anyway, but he was insistent. Maybe that is a cultural thing, but it struck me as rude. I have booked tours through Viator in various parts of the world, and most of them have been at least decent. While, the sites were amazing, this tour was an incredible disappointment. We tipped him and the driver well anyway. It should be noted that the driver was very polite and gracious, even though he spoke no English or Spanish, the two languages that we speak.

I did this tour with my... - I did this tour with my girlfriend, in February. I don't know about the other guides, but we got Mira, and if you happen to you to choose this service, make sure not to have her. Immediately Mira discouraged us from doing the activities we wanted to do, like go inside the Pyramid and visit other parts of the sites. But the thing that showed how impolite and unprofessional she was happened in the front of the big Pyramid, almost at the beginning of the tour. I distracted myself a second to make a picture and she rudely remarked: "Do you wanna lead, or shall you let me lead the tour?" To such a sentence I replied immediately highlighting her unprofessional attitude, and I personally felt she ruined my first acquaintance with the Giza valley. Instead of saying sorry, she kept excusing herself, and I almost stopped the tour, if it wasn't for the respect I have for my girlfriend. She tried to talk with me later but the damage was done. Also, nothing was natural and spontaneous, nothing was a real act of courtesy or kindness: Everything was fake to have some tips later. If you choose this service...at your risk: make sure not to have her. Marco
