Highlights
- Pickerel - We kick off the tour at the Pickerel, the oldest pub in Cambridge! We will stop here to learn about the history of British pubs, the early history of Cambridge and learn about some of the Pickerel’s special quirks. You will get a free drink here!
- The Round Church Visitor Centre - We will stop briefly here to talk about the history of the church, as well as point out some of Cambridge’s other iconic pubs.
- Trinity College - We will stop here for 5 minutes, to talk briefly about Cambridge’s college drinking cultures.
- King’s College Chapel - We will stop here for 2 minutes, to talk about the Cambridge Nightclimbers - one of the city’s most iconic drinking groups.
- Eagle - The Eagle is Cambridge’s most famous pub, and we will stop here for a swift drink, and to learn about the pub’s amazing history and entwinement with Cambridge’s University and World War II.
- The Mill - Our final stop will be at the charming ale pub, the Mill. We will talk about the Mill’s rivalry with the nearby Anchor pub, as well as the plight and future of pubs in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and increasing financial pressures!

Join us as we explore some of Cambridge’s most significant taverns and the city’s fascinating, colorful past! We are a team of two, both students of Cambridge heritage with an enthusiasm for brewing and history. We carefully select the finest of Cambridge’s superb pubs for your enjoyment. Our goal is to provide you an uncompromised, up-close exposure to the local tavern culture, ensuring a maximum group size of 6 people for this experience. We strive to combine the entertaining educational aspect of a walking tour with the calming, unique excursion of enjoying an afternoon at some of Cambridge’s most outstanding pubs.

Fantastic time - Josh our host was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Would recommend highly. We had a great time. He educated us about some very good pubs.

A fabulous tour and memorable night - This was an excellent tour! Lyndsey was very friendly, warm and engaging and we learned so many interesting things about the history of the pubs, Britain and Cambridge itself. We felt like Lyndsey was our friend and we had such a fun night we didn’t want it to end! This is a really unique and original tour not to be missed, you’ll love it as much as we did!

Best Pub Tour - The tour was excellent, presenting a mix of historical facts and local anecdotes.
Josh was a great guide --- he loves history and knows how to communicate it well. It was also interesting to hear what it is like being a student at Cambridge. As another reviewer has noted, highly recommended to do this on your first night in Cambridge.
One of us does not drink, yet we still had a great time!

Interesting tour in the center of the city - Very interesting tour of Cambridge with a focus on pubs and their history, but also lots of exciting information about Cambridge as a university city. Josh was a nice, knowledgeable and funny guide. Can be recommended, preferably early in your stay in the city

Fun and interesting for people who like history and pubs - Surprise gift from children. Really interesting visit to three Cambridge pubs. Lindsey was very knowledgeable and made the experience fun. Just right for a birthday treat.

Fantastic - Very entertaining and interesting. Our host, Josh, was charming. He told us many interesting things about Cambridge and its pubs, in a very entertaining way. He took us to 3 fantastic pubs and recommended delicious beers and places to eat. Fantastic experience

An afternoon in the pub - what more do you want! - A fun and informative afternoon with Josh and Lindsay learning about the origins of pubs in Britain and the history of some in Cambridge. While one of the pubs on the tour was too busy the tour was flexible enough to find its way to another location without affecting the enjoyment. Josh and Lindsay have such interesting stories to tell about pubs, Cambridge, university life and themselves that this quickly became like having a drink with old friends you haven’t seen for a while. We would highly recommend the tour and would even be tempted to book it again the next time we’re in Cambridge just to see how Josh is getting on with his PHD!

Excellent tour - a really fun experience ! - We hosted our US and EU colleagues in Cambridge last week and as part of the social activities, booked the Heritage Pub Tour. It was great ! Josh & Lindsay were amazing hosts - fun, knowledgeable and even having studied at Cambridge I learnt new things ! Highly recommend…
