Excellent Walking Guide - The guide was excellent. Set the pace of the walk to the clients speed answering all the questions regarding the culture and traditions, fruits, of the area the farms grow, the climate. He was very charming, spoke 3 languages made the walk fun and very enjoyable. This company outsource to the best walking guiding company on the island and I would definitely recommend booking with them. He provided more information and history of the area on the way home in the mini bus back to the hotel always very happy to please. You wanted to book another trip on the back of this one

Stunning views on a leisurely stroll - Picked up promptly from our hotel in Funchal, it was about 45 min drive to the start of the walk. The views were amazing and totally worth the expense (22 Euros per person). The guide was knowledgeable about the local flora and fluent in German and English. The terrain was flat and fairly even throughout, but there were a few sections that proved difficult for the septuagenarian on the tour - two stepping stone walks across small waterfalls (see pics) and a part where the path had fallen away. The walk was fairly safe for everyone involved, and could be completed in running shoes. The pace was a little slow for us, and the walk lasted longer than advertised (about 3 h 15 min) due to the older participants. Altogether, we were out from 09.00 until 14.20, so the experience lasted about half the day. Nonetheless, thoroughly enjoyable, and highly recommended for people wanting to see some Madeira countryside and the levada on a leisurely ramble.
