The old lighthouse was launched in 1860 only to be decommssioned 40 years and dozens of shipwrecks too late after studies proved that its high altitude posed a great danger to sailors around the cape as they couldn’t be able to see it in cloudy weather conditions. A new lighthouse was since built at a much lower altitude.

Superb tour... 100% recommend... Do this tour, you won't be disappointed - This is the 2nd time I have done this tour, and it was every bit as good the 2nd time around. Our guide, Joseph, was exceptional. His knowledge, anecdotes and assistance was first class. Every aspect of the tour was excellent, with plenty of time at each stop. This is a 1st class day tour I'd definitely recommend.

A fun, informative tour with experts - Candy and Mabee gave us a thorough, informative, and fun tour of the Cape. Our family learned so much about Cape history and the many cultures that make up South Africa. We especially enjoyed hiking at the Cape of Good Hope and the windy, wavy boat ride to the seal island. Big bonus points for afternoon singing and language lessons from our energetic guides!

A memorable experience - Our travel guide is excellent and knowledgeable of the tourist locations. His name is Joshua Tambwe, originally from the DRC, I'm not sure that I got his name right. This is a ride that I will encourage anyone coming to Cape Town to go for.

Great day trip - We had the best tour today with Candy and Mabee. We learnt so much, and would honestly say it’s one of the best tours I’ve done. Highlights for us were seeing the baby penguins at boulders beach, and the hike at the Cape of Good Hope. Thank you !

Gorgeous trip to the Cape of Good Hope - What a marvellous trip, even though it started off rainy. Candy and Mabee really lifted our spirits (there was another solo traveller and a family) from the start. We learned so much, and saw so much, and did so much. I climbed up the cliff pathway from the Cape of Good Hope towards the lighthouse carpark in the distance. The path wound past a tremendously beautiful beach (45 minute walk, the first 10 or so are a scramble). We saw Eland and Ostrich by the deep blue waves, adorable penguins, a baboon mum with a tiny infant. Thanks Candy and Mabee for your friendliness, your ability to tell the complex historical stories, your warmth and your kindness. You made me - and probably everyone - on the tour feel like they were the first ever guests!

Nice tour with lots of information - We were on the tour with Kelvin and while we were not lucky with the weather, Kelvin shared a lot of information about the surroundings and the history of South Africa with us and he was not just friendly but also funny! We'd definitely do this again (with better weather ;) ). Pick-up was on time.
