We’ll transport you to distant locations around Goreme on a minibus, guided by an English-speaking tour leader. Discover hard-to-reach corners of Cappadocia that would be challenging to find without our service.
You will be picked up by our driver and tour guide from your hotel at 9:30 AM. Our first destination is Göreme Panorama, an excellent spot to get familiar with Cappadocia’s famous fairy chimneys.
Next, we will drive approximately 40 minutes from Göreme Panorama to Derinkuyu Underground, the largest and deepest underground city in the Cappadocia region. Derinkuyu Underground City is shrouded in mystery. The exact time of its construction, its purpose, the number of inhabitants, and its true depth remain unknown. Numerous theories exist, but none are definitive.
It is estimated that up to 20,000 people could have lived in Derinkuyu at any given time. The city included churches, food storage areas, livestock stalls, wine cellars, schools, and even commercial spaces. It featured a ventilation system to filter out smoke and an irrigation system that provided drinking water from wells fed by an underground river. Such places highlight the extraordinary ingenuity of humans.
Our next stop is Ihlara Valley, where we will take a 15-minute walk near our lunch restaurant. After hiking, we will break for lunch in Belisirma Village at a local restaurant by the Melendiz River, offering a chance to taste the local cuisine of Ihlara Canyon.
After lunch, we will board our tour minibus and drive approximately 15 minutes from the middle of Ihlara Valley to Selime Village. Here, we will visit Selime Monastery and the Star Wars Area. We will stop at a panoramic viewpoint to take photos of Selime Monastery and the Star Wars location.
Following the photo session, we will drive back towards the Göreme area, which will take about an hour and a half. We will then visit a local Onyx Workshop to see various gemstones and jewelry. The final stop on today’s Green Tour is the beautiful Pigeon Valley. This valley connects Uchisar to Göreme and is named for its numerous pigeon houses. Historically, farmers used these pigeon houses to collect droppings, which served as excellent natural fertilizer.
Around 6:00 PM, we will return you to your hotel.
